Well the bean soup is wonderful...onions, garlic, tomatoes, diced smoke pork chops, ham stock, mixed beans and some spices. Tastes much better than I imagined it would

My late ask BK question

On your recording of the title song from SMILE (Lost In Boston 1) I was wondering why you made the following choices for the recording:

There are difference in lyrics and lack of lyrics in the recording.

Where you have a tap break on the recording instead there is a refrain that begins with:
WALK WITH ME
THROUGH THE HALLWAYS OF MEMORY
A PICTORIAL GALLERY
OF THIS MARVELOUS YEAR...

Why was this dropped in favor of the tap break? And why a tap break when there was none at this moment in the show?

Then at the end of the song; the last verse
SO HOLD REAL STILL
WHEILE WE SAVOR THIS SPECIAL CHILL
AND THE MAN WITH THE CAMERA WILL
RECORD THAT
SMILE
C'MON KID
SMILE
OKAY KID
SMILE

is dropped in favor of lyrics later used in the reprise when they show the photos of the contestants beginning with #9 to #15 (The nude photo of Maria)

Why was this moment chosen?

We did the music and lyrics that were provided. The "walk with me" section was not included, nor would I have included it, as it interrupts the flow of the number as we were presenting it. The tap break was my idea (obviously) and just something I thought would help make it seem like a big production number. When we did the Unsung Musicals EFA benefit, it was our opening number and was done full out with all the tapping and it brought the house down.
