François, would love to stay and play, but my DH is calling for his dinner.  Guess I'd better go and whip something up.  Green jello, perhaps?  Hmm...

Hi folks.  It been a very long, tiring day.  I've had the worst possible news.  Mom is dying.  They only expect her to live another 2 or 3 days.

They cannot do surgery on her because that would kill her as well.

I was going to take her home but I am a coward.  I decided to let them take her to a Hospise house.  We are waiting for a room to open up as I type but hey don't think it will be tonight.

I couldn't tell her she is dying.  I just told her they want her to go to this place because she is so underweight and weak.  I told her it would only be for a couple of days and then I will take her home.  I didn't say it would be to Pittsburgh.

I can't compete with dessert but I'm not as shaky as jello! Oh no!

Au revoir... as they say in French Canada (dry!)...

I hope I did the right thing.  I don't like that I lied about something so important.

Dear Danise, you've done the right thing! We're sharing your worries and think about you and your mother! May she go in peace.

I can't believe how kind people are being to me.  A lady I worked with has offered to go to Pittsburgh with me.  Her daughter works for one of the airlines and she could fly up on standby.

Emcee - Congratulations DR Cason.  Just avoid anything that Alan Cummings did with the role and it will be perfect!

Thank you Francois.  I feel so horrible.

There's nothing you've done that is horrible! We would have done the same I know!
You're close to her and that's what is important! She's cared for! Not abandoned!

You've not done anything wrong!

I guess I'd better go.  I got kicked out of her room for an hour and it's just about up.

Sorry to be such a downer.

Thank you all for the kind words, thoughts, vibes and prayers.

Do it! And remember what Jose said; in situations like that we are much stronger than we ever think!

Frankly, I hope they're doing the "real" Cabaret and not the revival, which I'm not that fond of.

Guest is gone - I decided to dine home and have made myself a nice, big steak.

Cilla - Maybe I'm imagining things (not the first time that's happened) - but wasn't there a day a few weeks ago when you said you had gone to the leasing agent wanting to get the paperwork finalized, and they acted surprised that you wanted to get it done so early?

I was also going to comment on this.

DR Danise, I think you did the right thing for the moment with your mother.  The people at hospice should have booklets on the dying process and you should read them for the imminent signs: the fingernails turn white, she'll drift further out of consciousness, and there are more things I don't remember. Once she's settled into hospice, I recommend that you sit with her, hold her hand, and talk to her.  Tell her how much you love her, and let her know that she has your permission to go.  Don't beg her to stay, tell her to go with the light and find peace.

It killed me to do it, and I said this to my dad for two days in February. I believe he needed this assurance.  I told him if my mom came for him to follow her, and I believe she was in the room with him and waiting for him.  I hope the end is quick for her and for you.

I guess those of you who watch DRIVE read earlier this week that Fox has canceled the show and will not air the remaining episodes (they may be available on-line later). After I saw the anemic ratings for the premiere two hour show, I figured it wasn't going to catch on, so I didn't invest in it. I'm glad now I didn't. Fox already burned me earlier in the season with the show about the senator's kidnapped wife which never ran to conclusion either.

I thought it was the senator's son that was kidnapped?

A lightning/thunder storm rolled through the NY Metro area early this morning.  Bright and early, there was a quick flash, and then the loudest sonic boom I've ever heard.  THAT make the dogs sit up and take notice!

Cody is now returned, safe and sound, to his owner, so Zach is now back to the bachelor life.

Bachelor life?  Is that a euphemism for gay?

Danise I can't express how much I believe you did the right thing.  I am also sending an extra vibe your co-worker can fly on stand-by.  I was hoping someone would offer to go with you.

Well, he DOES squat to pee rather than lifting his leg, so...who knows?  :)
