NOTES IN A HURRY
« on: April 29, 2007, 12:55:34 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were in a hurry, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're in a hurry, too, but first they must finish their curry in a flurry.

Not me, but the Coconut Kiss sounds very good...to me. :D BK, did you not care for them because you didn't think that they were very good, or do you not like coconut?

But before I go...Theater Artists Olympia, the theater group that put on Cannibal!  The Musical is producing a show called Boston Marriage.  Today is their last performance, and I got a ticket to see it.  It sound like a funny play.  I can't wait to see it. :)

RE: Notes question on Pulitzer Prizes_

From what I gather, anyone can submit stuff for "consideration": a Pulitzer jury then selects up to three "nominees" in each categary; the Pulitzer Board selects a "winner" (or not).

The Pulitzer organization does publish the nominations.

PULITZER ORG:

Quote

1. The prizes and fellowships are awarded by Columbia University on the recommendation of The Pulitzer Prize Board. The Board meets twice annually. The prizes are announced during the Spring.

Nominating Jurors for the prizes are appointed by the Board in each category. They are invited to exercise their independent and collective judgment and submit three nominations. The Nominating Jurors are advised that their nominations are for the information and advice of The Pulitzer Prize Board only inasmuch as the Board is charged with the responsibility and authority under the will of Joseph Pulitzer to select, accept, substitute or reject these nominations, and may in extraordinary circumstances offer its own. Each Nominating Jury should submit to the Board three nominations in its category. These must be listed in alphabetical order and each of the three must be accompanied by a statement as to why the jury believes that this particular entry merits a Pulitzer Prize. It is not a part of the jury's charge to offer its preferences among its three nominees

Bragging rights should be restricted to entrants that pass the Nominating Jury.

Hi all.  Sorry I had to leave so suddenly.

They woke us up to check on Mom and then she couldn't go back to sleep.  They gave a sleeping pill and I'm just waiting for her to go back to sleep and then I shall attempt to do so myself.

You never do sleep good in a "hospital".  They're always waking you up to ask if your sleeping ok!  I had the same problem when I was in last year.  Just as I was about to drift off, here came another nurse to take my temp. or BP or whatever.  But I guess they have to.

Monday is when the bus route changes.  I wonder if they will think I'm not riding the bus any more or am staging a protest.  I sure fought hard for them not to change it.

I hope the dogs are doing ok.  I'm worried about them.  They do have two nice dog houses but they've never had to use them.  I hope they aren't barking and bothering anyone.

They are going to have to get used to being outside.  I can't leave them in the house when I go back to work.  They are used to Mom letting them out at about noon .  Just one of the many adjustments I (and they) will just have to make.

And the word of the day is: HANDSEL!
"Levi will know his doorknob store will be successful," Ida thought to herself, "When he sees this lovely assortment of brass HANDLES I'm giving him as a HANDSEL."

West New York Story, a musical about what happens when Maria and Anita pull up stakes and move to the 'burbs.  They open a dress shoppe, only to find that their most frequent customers are men... and they aren't shopping for their wives!  Hilarity ensues.

Songs include "Why-o-why-o-why-o (Why did I ever leave 65th and 61st)," "What a Waist," and "Wearing My Wrong Note Rags."
