Thanks, DR George, for the lovely photos from your celebration!   :)

Who licked all that whipped cream off your face?

Sadly, no one.  But then, I was sitting right across from my parents.  I don't think that they would've appreciated the spectacle. ;)

Irish Spring...

Strong enough for a man, but made for a woman.

Oohh... Irish men taking showers...

Memories...

Boy, the Actifed must have made me drowsy last night.  Gerisol?

BK, I'm down at the office and I cannot find the STAGES CD.  This means it's somewhere in the apartment, so I may never find it quickly.  Can you send me an mp3?

Oy!

Oh.. And as I was about to put yesterday's NY Times in the recycling bin, I came across the the spring edition of The New York Times Style Magazine...  And it's all about food!

:)

Guess I'm keeping this issue for a few more days.

elmore, I'll send you the mp3 today.

I woke up this morning thinking the topic of the day should have been favorite classic commercials (the Actifed must have REALLY put me away last night), so yes, let's have at it.

Today our math teacher spent 20 min's trying to prove that two lines were the same length, when they were  not. He was very frustrated.

Add a ring,
And then another ring
And another ring
And you've got three rings:
Ballantine!

I culturally bereft today.  I can hardly think of any historical plays or movies, but I'm a warehouse of commercial jingles.

I sorry.

Blossoms in the Dust

Splendor in the Dust

Duel in the Dust

Lust in the Dust

....so many "in the dust" references spring to mind.....

But when you must,
Borrow from the friendly company
With folks you trust.

This may explain a lot about your concept of the word "history."

Have I mentioned that during my adolescent acne period, my mom heard the jingle "Gimbel's is getting better every day" and came running into the living room asking what the commercial was where "pimples are getting better every day" - a fine, concerned mom!

Oohh.. They're showing an absolutely beautiful pic of Central Park on the news right now... Hmm...

I think we must have been watching Channel 7 news at the same time. I was home for lunch and we were about to watch Millionaire. The last shot of the news was that beautiful shot of the Sheep Meadow. Then we watched Millionaire and now I'm back at the office.

And yes, this time I agree with Mr. Brantley. It seems most reviews do. My friend from Tucson is in the minority. He actually thinks the play is good, not great but good. He also felt it was about many different and important topics. My friend is a wonderful friend, but methinks he was projecting his feelings for seeing Miss Lansbury on stage onto what has been called in almost every review, a star vehicle (and a not very good star vehicle at that).

Live it Up, Up, Up with Uptown!

Click here to see the commercial. DR Ginny may remember this.

Too Pooped to Participate

Uptown was a local soda in the Detroit area. It may have been marketed in other places but I never saw it in Minnesota (I was born in Detroit and still have relatives there so that's how I know about Uptown and Faygo).
