elmore did a beautiful thing - a high school teacher had e-mailed me asking if his graduating class could sing Time To Go from Stages - apparently they love the song.  I went into storage and went through every single box and couldn't find any of the Stages music, so I asked elmore if he'd do up a lead sheet for them and he did and Jose was kind enough to go over it.  And they are so THRILLED - I'm going to ask him to record it and send it to me.

Dear BK .... that was a genuinely lovely thing that you all did, and for a teacher out of your past .... it's a very sweet way to pay tribute to someone who has taught you.

You better be careful.....folks will figure out what a sweet man you are inside! ::)

And you will notice that I made no mention of your ability to play the organ.

Oops (spoo), I just did.

Well collected lovelies and studlies --- I think I'll put on something either pink or purple, and venture out into the day.  Grab a bite to eat, and see a movie in the afternoon with a few friends.

to quote the precocious and naughty Philipino......

Mom isn't eating very well and the keep sending over trays of real food just ground up a little bit.  I've thought that maybe babyfood is the answer and have bought her a couple of jars just to test it out....

I also thought that maybe instead of shoving pills down her thoat, maybe a little prune juice would make things move along......

It's raining here in Seffner and I'm glad I'm here with the dogs.  Bear gets so scared when it thunders.

It was high and dry in Sun City when I left.

No, I'm just so so, but I appreciae the compliment.

If you all knew how much I detest transcribing something and how poorly I do it, then you could truly appreciate how wonderfully DR Jose helped me out.  His ear, along with those Russian hands, is amazing.  I would never have had the correct chords as quickly if it weren't for him.  I'm quite honored to have made such good friends as I have on this site.

Who'da thunk it?

Happy Mother's Day!

Lots on tv tonight.  I will watch the SURVIVOR finale. And record the DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES finale.

It sort of sucks that they are both on at the same time. I'll be curious to see what the ratings will be like.

Actually, I don't know the teacher at all - he wrote me out of the blue.  He's a huge fan of Stages, ever since the LP came out, and he played it for the students and they, according to him, all loved it and wanted to do it.  I was very touched.

Will we never get to page seven?  You'd think it was a Mother's Day or something.

I think we all go a little mad sometimes, don't you?

There are some very sweet and generous people at HHW I've found out time and again over the years here. You've named two of them.

I started my afternoon of viewing with the remainder of the "making of" documentary for APOCALYTO. Could have had a lot more to it especially involving casting, coming up with the Mayan translation of the script and teaching it to the actors, etc.

There was also one brief little deleted scene that's included on the DVD, but it's about 30 seconds long, hardly worth including.

And then I listened to the commentary with Mel Gibson and his co-wrter/producer Farhad Safinia. They have a very easygoing conversation that's kind of a pleasure to listen to after the hyped-up tension of the piece itself.

Next I watched the first half of the Brando documentary. Glad I saw it, but I was disappointed that the various speakers and producers skipped all his work between ON THE WATERFRONT and ONE EYED JACKS. That's quite a few films that didn't even merit a mention.

I next put in ARTHUR AND THE INVISIBLES, a kind of modern day ALICE IN WONDERLAND as a young boy gets shrunk down to miniature size to hunt for some rubies buried by his grandfather so he and his grandmother won't be turned out of their house.

I only got about a half hour in before sleep began to overtake me.

It wasn't the film that put me to sleep. I had a large lunch, and with the cool temperatures and the quiet Sunday afternoon, it was so easy to slip into a nap which I most agreeably did.

I did get the laundry done and clothes folded, so I have my bathroom to clean next, and then it'll be back to continue viewing for the day.

I picked up elmore's chart - lovely to look at, as always.  I think I only had to adjust about four chords, which were, admittedly, hard to hear on the recording.
