The wind is really blowing now & I can hear thunder.  Last night we had a lighting & thunder storm without rain.  Hopefully we will get rain tonight.

I was looking at a photo of the storm last night when we lost power.

There are few nice shots of the lightning in our valley:

RIP JH. He gave me so much listening to enjoy. Golden Days indeed.

I must track down a copy of "Tom & Jerry"

Thanks for mentioning IVAN'S CHILDHOOD, DR MATTH. It sounds interesting. Where did you hear about it? I had not.

I had far from a relaxing dinner & feel sick now.

We were cooking when the power went out.  Then it began to come and go in spurts.  While we had power we rushed very fast to finish cooking and then while I was eating, during the on spurts, I rushed to do the dishes.  Without power we don't have water.

Just added IVAN'S CHILDHOOD to my Netflix queue. Acorn Media just released LILIES, about three young girls growing up in Liverpool in 1920. Sounds like my kind of thing, but Netflix so far doesn't have it. Instead of girls in Liverpool I'll watch the story of a boy in Russia.

Thank you.  I'm calming down now & the winds have died down.  Unfortunately we didn't get any rain.  Best of all, there hasn't been anymore lightening.  It was beautiful to watch last night but I prefer my house not to burn down.

SINGDAW, re Netflix, I've been quite impressed at how quickly I receive the DVDs. They receive them very quickly and send the new ones out right away. In fact, it's so fast that I've wondered how they do it. My other mail is much, much slower!

Like Jane, I start with the first disc in a series to see if I like it, but you could certainly order disc 1 and disc 2 at the same time. I'm on the 3-at-a-time plan, which works out well for me. I find that I prefer to rent the DVDs rather than watch on TV because there's less elasped time between episodes. It's really nice to keep the DVDs as long as you want and they have a great selection. There's very little I can't find at Netflix--and I don't rent the blockbuster stuff. I've been much more pleased with them than I expected.

Years ago when we signed up the only option was 4 at a time.  They arrive faster now due to a larger number of distribution centers.

Jane, certainly you recognize Edna Mode, from Pixar's The Incredibles!

DR 3D - I guess it's not as clear in the explaining as we thought - LOL!  Indeed, you don't want to release a product generally to community theaters where you have no input because it potentially cheapens the product, but that's only while you're in the process of putting the work out to regional theaters and potential commercial producers.  Once the writers have sadly decided that they indeed will not get a reasonable commercial deal, they will at that point release it for general licensing.

In the case of Last Starfighter, there's stuff going on that we're not free to talk about so that if it pans out, there will be commercial prospects.  But at some point, like any show, if at that point it turns out to our dubious satisfaction that the major regional and/or commercial circuit will not happen for us, then we would release it generally, first contacting the groups on our list that have already asked.  And we are OK'ing permission for  a production or two in some cities where it probbaly will not have a detrimental effect on commercial prospects.

Dear Friends:

Many thanks to all of you who have inquired after my well-being.  Also, apologies to those who have been concerned.

I am taking a break, of sorts, from daily postings.  It's true I post at other forums.  But not to the extent that I've posted here over the years, and certainly not frequently, of late.

I am sorting through some issues that have been on my mind, as well as facing a heavier workload at the office.  I'm truly not sure when/if I'll return "to form" but I do consider myself part of the HHW family and will post from time to time.

It is good to see you RLP, do take care and post when you can. You ahve been missed.

There's a Centralia, Washington.  I wonder if there's a connection. :)

Not sure....

Alexander Griggs, the found of Grand Forks, ND, used to run steamboats of the Columbia and was mayor of Wenatchee after he left North Dakota.
