Had a nice dinner with Merrill Grant and Craig Brockman, with an added bonus of running into my old pal, Miss Karen Ziemba.

Never heard from Jose today, so didn't meet Baayork Lee - maybe next time.  Also, Jose and elmore should check their e-mails.  Our crack casting director sent out the sched at about ten this evening.  He also made no response to my long e-mail where I laid out what I was feeling, nor did he respond to my general manager.  The latter will be taking over casting duties if this guy keeps doing what he's doing.  No excuse for it - once again we have no answer on the actress situation and I'm afraid it's not going to be settled (whatever the casting is) while I'm here, which is really infuriating.  Well, he'll be seeing me bright and early in the morning, and if I were him I know I'd try to have real good news for me.

bk - Sorry for not touching base with you earlier.  By the time I was heading back uptown, it was probably a bit late to catch up with Baayork since she was most likely running "class" before the 7:00 show.  And with your A/C and casting issues... Well... In any case... Next time.

What is fried beavertail?

From Wikipedia:

Quote
Also try the tasty beaver tail, a doughy, deep-fried pastry associated with Ottawa, although a number of places claim to have created it. It's available in sweet and savory versions, topped with cinnamon, sugar, icing sugar, etc. In the winter, many places will offer it on the canal. During the summer, the only place downtown to offer it is in the Byward Market on George St. There is a variety of toppings and the taste of the beaver tail arguably stands out more with the classic sugar & cinnamon. However, the locals' favourite is the kilaloe sunrise, a topping of sugar and lemon juice.

*And if you happen to find yourself down at Epcot, there's a small booth in the Canadian section that sells them.  I would get them topped with Nutella.

Dear DR SWoody,

Please post your recipe for roasted beets.

My DH loves beets. I think they taste like dirt.

I got the email and I will be there around 10:15.

BK, one of my biggest disappointments at missing dinner with DR FJL and everyone was missing the walk past the Little Pie Shop so you would know where it is.  Their old-fashioned apple pie is as good as the one my mama made! I wish I had a hige slice this minute!

I prefers it to the almost-as-wonderful sour cream apple pie.

It turns out our guy did call and wanted to talk about what he is saying is large miscommunication issues immediately - only he called my home phone, and tonight, just a moment ago, is the first time I have checked that voice mail.  I know he has my cell, so it's weird.

I finished HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS. With the information I'm reading now in THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE, several things in the movie ring so much truer now than they ever did before. (Not that they didn't ring true so much as the book ties them all together as that it seems all of a piece now).

Next, I continued watching BERSERK. I'm not quite an hour in. Judy Geeson and Robert Hardy have shown up, and Diana Dors is causing all sorts of trouble.

SUch a fun movie, but the circus acts bore me to tears.

Drink some Gatorade!

Another excellent episode of DAMAGES as surprises, manipulation, and deceit keep piling higher and ever-higher. Such a fun show, and Glenn Close is obviously loving every minute of it.

Yes, it was Gerrit we offered it to - the original Rodzinski - but there were insurmountable logistical problems.  But, it was great to reconnect with him, and he's totally on board for doing a commentary track on The Creature Wasn't Nice DVD.  In the meantime, we sent out the offer to the actor who did a great audition yesterday, but I haven't heard back as to whether that's a go (what else is new).  It shouldn't be this difficult.

Darn...it would have been nice to see Gerrit again (despite the fact that it might bring back bad memories of his time in Atlanta!) but the commentary should be fun!

86 degrees outside. 88 degrees inside. This is most unseemly.

So glad I'm not the only one who was somewhat baffled by his lack of judgement in terms of timing and contacting people...
