Oh how funny, I was just shown in the news from the caucuses in 2004, wearing my Dean Precinct Chair t-shirt and watching the returns come in...lol

I can't think of anyone else I know who I'd expect to say these words...

:)

Well... I did make a stop into the Senegalese boulangerie and patisserie - and café, Patisserie des Ambassades.  It's an interesting place.  There's an air of "high-end dining" in the dining area (and on their website), but the way the counter and menus (xeroxes in clear plastic binders)are set up reveals it's home-cooking roots.

I did not stay to sample any of the Sengalese appetizers and entrees which shows the influence of many different cultures, but I did get two of their pastries to go.  The "tuna bread" was OK - basically a roll filled with tuna.  However, their almond croissant was quite wonderful.  Besides being topped with a generous crust of almonds, and filled with marzipan, there was also a layer of almond pastry cream inside.  YUM!

I guess I'll have to head back sometime to sample the real food there.

Just caught up on last night's "So You Think You Can Dance?" via the DVR.  Not a bad night.  And Neil continues to win me over.  And get "hotter" each week too. ;)

Alas, the whole middle part of last night's "Top Chef" seems to have "recorded badly".  :(  But the judges table is coming in nice and un-snowy.  Oh, the drama!

That is a fun video.  In fact, I thought it was fun when I posted the link about two months ago.  And, again, when you posted it the other week.  ;D

Whew! Finally finished all the items for the next CLOSER.

The crime takes place in Chinatown, so it's a nice change of scenery. And we finally confirm the cause of Brenda's health issues.

That's all I'm sayin'...

Not even six here and I'm bushed and ready for bed.  Watching a DVD.  Never had a call back from the actresses' agent, but my casting guy feels it's basically a done deal just awaiting confirmation - he asked me to be patient until tomorrow, and I will be - but that's it.  The problem is, these agents don't give a crap about NYMF - they make no money at all, so it's a very low priority even though it may not be for the producer/director or even the actress.

Hello all -- back from my day out on the town, with a tech and rehearsal for our Fringe al fresco performance under our belt.

Just for everyone's info, I'll be going up in "Bukowsical" as the lawyer for next Tuesday's (Aug. 14th) 10:00pm show, as well as our closing show next Saturday (Aug. 18th) at 3:30pm.

It's a shame, for a moment today, I had a glimmer of hope that I might get to step in for one of the guys, when he and the director got into a big row.  During our trip meeting last weekend, our director and tour manager said to leave today, tomorrow, and Saturday open - as we have our tech, two of these al frescoes, a 6 hour rehearsal, and our opening night.  However, when we were debating whether to have our al fresco rehearsal tonight after our tech or tomorrow before the al fresco, said actor made us all aware that he not only had a concert that he needed to be at that he had to leave for right then, as well as having a meeting with an ad agency tomorrow morning with his brother until 1 (when we have to perform at 1:30).

He and the director stuck behind to "talk" while the rest of us made our way to the place where we were practicing tonight (which he was absent from), but they didn't tell me to prepare to step in, so...damn.

Sorry to hear about that, Cason. Their loss!

Say, I think we need you in a Zubrick avatar, just to get us in the mood for the NYMF!

DR Cason - "al frescoes" - Outdoor rehearsals?  Or is that some L.A. theatre term that I'm just not familiar with.  ;)

In any case...  I should be able to make it to either one of your performances.  -Are you able to request "holds" at the box office for friends/agents/colleagues/etc.?

Well, the Fringe does "al fresco" things - where for a two or three hour block of time, a certain number of shows get 7 minutes to do a number or a scene and hand out stuff, publicize, etc.

Yeah - just let me know which show you'd like to come to and we can hold a ticket or three.  :)

So they went with real brothers just like the Broadway show. I guess Anthony didn't have a chance (unless we auditioned together since more than once strangers have asked if we are brothers)  ;)

DR Jane - sounds like you're going to have a housefull!  Have fun with your family.

Thank you.  It should be short but sweet.  Craig & Ioana are looking forward to meeting Sherlock.  In their honor we gave him a bath today.  He was such a good boy!

Ah, OK.  And where was tonight's "al fresco"?

Well, let me double-check my schedule just to make sure I'm not double-booking myself.  -Which has happened once or twice or thrice over the past few weeks to me - which is actually quite unusual for me.  Color me cautious.

I would LOVE to be there! I've never seen The Fantasticks!

(I know...I know...don't kick me out of the community!)

Don't worry, I am sure MBarnum has not seen it either - unless Steve Reeves did a production recently.
