Not only is today the first Saturday I've worked in a month, it's the first day I've done any information-waitressing since July 20.  People are weirder than ever.

Sunday afternoon, Sept. 23.

And will you see all possible Brain performances, or just wait for the big grand finale on Sept. 30?

This unlikely musical hit had several interesting things about its original production.  It was directed by someone better known for directing classic straight plays.  Its choreographer had, several years before created the choreography for a classic musical and would repeat that chore in the film version of said musical.  A slightly lower-level person on the creative team would go on to become a major figure in the musical theater just a few short years later.  The musical's cast included a star who would not appear on Broadway again for over twenty years.  Said star also had a bit of bad luck just a few years prior to coming back to Broadway, said bad luck being well-publicized.  Another member of the company would, just a few years later, go on to star in a hugely popular TV series.  Another member of the company would go on to movie stardom a few years later when said company member starred in an iconic film.  This musical also suffered a curious fate.

So:

Name the musical and its director.

Name the choreographer and said choreographer's few year's prior classic musical.

Name the slightly lower-level member of the creative team who would go on to become a major musical theater person.

Name the show's star, name the star's return to Broadway vehicle, and tell us the well-publicized bad luck incident involving the star.

Name the company member who would go on to star in a hugely popular TV series and name the series.

Name the company member who would achieve movie stardom a few years later by starring in an iconic film and name the film.

Name the curious fate that befell the musical.

Remember, do NOT post your answers to the site, send them to me at bruce@haineshisway.com.  Good luck to one and all and also all and one.

Yeah. I've thought the same thing, too. And I have a GREAT BIG SURPRISE for you, too. (BK knows it, but I'm sure he won't tell.) I'll tell you when we finally meet in person, whenever that is. (BK knows so many of my secrets that he probably doesn't even know which one I'm thinking of

Oh, I won't be in NY.  Can you email me so I know what the surprise is? :o :)

Hi Ginny, I don't think they have left Portland yet.  I expect we will be canceling our dinner reservations at the new Japanese restaurant.  We didn't get anything to cook so I'm not sure what will happen.

They should show Ioana some of Portland before heading this way.

DR Ginny ~ Oh, yes! Definitely, ALL of them. That's my MO whenever I'm around for any of his plays or musicals.  If I'm in town, I see everyone that he does.  (Bukowsical's loss, they could have made some money off me...  :)). Every performance is different as we all know with live theatre,  I can't get enough of seeing him onstage and I like to see how each different audience reacts. I'd be there for The Brain's opening night, but I signed up to Asst. Direct for our theatre's opener -- Suburb -- as my practicum for my master before I knew The Brain dates (rats!), but that's our final weekend, so you never know -- if they've got it rolling along and I can get someone to fill in for me backstage those final performances (we're real short-handed crew wise),
I just may head on out (I'm flying out on SW so it's usually a piece of cake to switch flights around) -- then Jet Blue back with Case early on Oct. 1.

They just left Portland!!!  Since this site is so powerful I’m wishing Bryan, Craig, Ioana & the sugar gliders SAFE & EASY TRAVEL VIBES!

While I’m at it I wishing my mother-in-law feel better vibes!  She had a fall last week, was ok but sore.  The last few days her chronic cough became rather severe.  I suspect one or both of these caused her to have difficulty breathing since her back has been hurting (back pain in the right location can feel like you have been slugged & take away your breath-bruised ribs from coughing also make it difficult to breathe).  She wouldn’t take her inhaler ahead of the prescribed time  ::) & she wouldn’t let my brother-in-law go get her some oxygen so he called the paramedics.  They sprayed her with a mist of the same ingredients that are in her inhaler & took her to the hospital.  Her EKG was fine & she is feeling better, thanks to the mist.  Now we are waiting for a report.

There was a time it said what these were when I put the arrow over them.

It's usually used to express shock on HHW (which seems unnecessary since it would really only be faux shocked... I mean, really, can any HHWer truly be shocked by anything anymore? ;D)

We do need more icons (DR Pogue just gasped) -- a little yellow face with batting eyes would be good (but I bet DR MusicGuy would overuse that one), one with a little yellow face sweating, I mean, perspiring, a little yellow face eating a Levain/Lavain (sp?) cookie ...

I thought we did have batting eyelashes, my mistake.  I have it on messenger not here.  I tried to copy & paste but it wouldn't work.

It certainly should! You got your notice before me and mine arrived yesterday! (Mailed from Allentown PA).

der Brucer

Mine did come today, and I was surprised since I know my postman does not like delivering packages on Saturday. But it was a very small box compared to the usual oversized boxes from Amazon.

I bought a new computer last year and was so annoyed at all the "kinks" that I went back to using my old one. The new one now sits in a box, shoved aside. Who has time to deinstall all that cr*p? I think I'll buy an Apple.

All of that sluggish start-up loading and updating seems to be over with, and now it's operating beautifully. Very fast and very smooth. I'm going to enjoy using this computer.

Too long a day!  I've been back around 30 minutes and I'm all caught up on the posts.  I will chill out for the next 40 minutes and head back downtown for BUKOWSICAL.

Continues to be deathly hot (is that like DEATHLY HALLOWS in the next Harry Potter book I'll be reading?) and I'm glad I've been able to spend the day inside.
