Very pleased to get to see some things tonight that were not UGLY BETTY (and I ADORE that show).

I began with AS THE WORLD TURNS from this afternoon. They repeated the gay kiss from Friday, and its immediate aftermath.

You can guess what happened - gay panic in spades with the closeted guy asking his girl friend to move in with him. [sigh]

Truly enjoyed the series of monkey cake pictures. Very amusing.

Next, I rewatched the end of MONK from last Friday night. I was nodding on and off during the last 15 minutes, so I wanted to make sure I hadn't missed anything.

Next came HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2. More production numbers than the first one, but basically the same kind of thing (why mess with success).

I liked the songs best that did not use so much digitizing and processing on the voices. I really HATE that sound (my freshman college roommate had Claudine Longet LPs that were nothing but synthetic singing, and when I'd put on Judy Garland, he thought HER voice was weird and sounded unnatural.)

I think Missy Karen needs some of those as well. . .

I loved the pictures, DR Jose!

Next came THE CLOSER. I thought the murder case was the weakest of the season, but the byplay with Fritz and Brenda's parents was beyond priceless, and I was laughing a lot. Great revelation at the end.

And nice to see multiple Emmy winner John Wesley Shipp again.

I recorded SAVING GRACE and will start to watch it tomorrow at some point. If I don't like it, I can erase it quickly and easily and be done with the show.

Instead, I watched the first episode in Season Three of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES. Watching this again reminded me of the repair job the writers had to do on the show at the first of this season.

Yes, they had ridded themselves of the Applewhites at the end of Season 2, but they still had that irritating and despicable Nora and the equally irritating Chow Mei. Susan's story (meeting Ian while Mike was in a coma) and Bree's blossoming affair with Orson (amid the mystery of his wife's disappearance/death) were the only plots that interested me at the first of the season.

Thank you, DR Jeanne!

Matt, I totes agree with you on the digitized voices.  It was ridiculously over the top on HSM2, even more than usual, I thought.  So much that they sounded like computers singing.  It really freaks me out.  Why do they DO that???  Do they really need to engineer it THAT much?

Well... By doing that, when HSM2 goes on tour - in concert or as a stage show or as an ice show (yes, an ice show!) - the people on stage will sound exactly like they did on TV.  -Even if they're not the same people.
