I don't know that i've had any bad flights. But when i travelled more i used to have problems with security.  A few times on flights and a few times on buses to NYC.

Being a 20 something girl (at the time) and travelling alone for some reason made security crazy.

I never had any huge problems.  But it used to really bug me a lot.

I never acted nervous or said anything that i thought seemed particularly awful.  But they would always suggest that i was going to run off to the US to get married (i'm not making this up).

The part that i never got was why they really cared. I mean last time i checked if i went through the proper channels it was not illegal to get married to someone in the US. So i never could understand why they kept saying that.

One time they even pulled me over to the special section where another person has to question you.  The dumbest part was that i was going to visit a canadian friend who was working in the US at the time.

Another time they freaked over a ring i was wearing (they were sure it was an engagement ring).  Last time i checked wearing 4 diamonds in an eternity setting (left for me by my grandmother when she died) was not an engagement ring.

I was totally holding my tongue on all these occasions. But those who know me would know i was dying to just say, "WHY DO YOU PEOPLE CARE??"

And Craig's young Romanian girlfriend, along with the cat, breezed through customs.

Another thing I do, singedpaw, is to prepare my chicken and pork separately.

I then get it into the shredded state I like the meat to be, then I mix everything together and let it simmer for a few hours to blend the flavors.

A taste every now and again after three hours lets me know what else I might want to do to it in the way of spicing it up.

the gasman called me this morning to let me know that what I smelled was indeed gas, and there was a gas leak...but it was from my neighbor's home, not mine. I was grateful.

Good news but did they fix the problem at your neighbor's house?

Sunday, an 84-year-old little lady, very frail, asked to meet me.  She said the musical was brilliant and thanked me for writing it, telling the story, entertaining her.  You must know from previous dispatches that I’ve long hoped to emulate the sound and feel of Bells Are Ringing, and other Jule Styne scores (one of the rave reviews picked up on this).  This was the show’s second lead, Jean Stapleton.  I told her that in creating my TV star lead, I of course thoughts of all the funniest ladies in the history of television, so, of course, there was a little bit of her in the character.  She looked up at me through these incredibly large glasses and said “That would be an honor.”

I was very touched, thinking that this star of the 1950s certainly had many friends who’d dealt with the blacklist and HUAC.  And it wasn’t until the next day that I remembered: In my research I’d read the harrowing exchange between the HUAC and the star of Bells Are Ringing, Judy Holliday.

Here's a perplexing thing:

There are three Fox musicals coming out in the near future.  Each is listed at $19.98.

Amazon.com has priced "With A Song In My Heart" at $14.98, "Bloodhounds of Broadway" at $14.98, but "The Girl Next Door" is $17.98.  Of the three, it's the lesser known (IMO) and probably the least successful theatrically.

Go figure.

DR Jeanne - at the moment, the Arsenicum Album seems to be helping with the nausea much more than my doctor's prescription seemed to...

Thank you so much!  :)

That's great!  Does it come in a little glass tube?

Oh, before I forget...

One other thing I loved about the closing night of Brain...

When poor DH Richard was up on stage being "tapped," I wasn't sure which I was enjoying more...HIS facial expressions, or the giggles of DR Ginny behind me...

:)

 :D  Cute.

The Enabler, with a cookie even larger than Levain's. (But probably not as good!)

It looks good. :)

If Jose is The Enabler, then I think we can dub BJ "The Closer". Any item of food that someone can't finish is passed down the table to BJ, who magically makes it disappear. I think there's one of these in every family...mine was my brother.)

That was my father, and he never seemed to gain any weight.

DR Samantha woke up this morning and her eyes were almost swollen shut.   It got her out of jury duty, but she could use some feel better vibes. I'm thinking maybe there was something on the airplane pillow she used

Who in the heck is Miriam?   And why haven't I ever heard of her??

Ohhhh, Sing! I thought MISS KAREN and I schooled you properly when you joined the site. You read the Kritzer trilogy. Did we not cover requisite films and other background? How could we have been so remiss??!!

Since we're going on about all the food that was consumed, I'd better get dindin on the table.  Nothing spectacular, just hamburger Stroganoff, but I'd like to get it tabled by the time Eureka has it's season finale tonight.

And I'll be doing a lot of catching up tomorrow.

That's great!  Does it come in a little glass tube?

The one made by Boiron comes in a small plastic tube; Standard Homeopathic used a small glass vial.
