BK, I would guess that the majority of the audience for THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X felt the way that last reviewer felt....and it is nice to see DR Cason being mentioned so many times in pretty much every review! You go, guy!

I want Monkey Cake....

I was thinking of the OAK BAR - which is located in the Plaza....or it was when I was there....and Cary Grant was there in NORTH BY NORTHWEST

No problem, DR JoseSPiano!  And...tough as it is for me, I'll pass this time on the Monkey Cake...trying to atone for some of the excesses from this past weekend!  :)

As for FUNNY FACE, I always enjoyed the wonderful gowns that Audrey gets to model...that is what stands out most for me with this film. I like the movie and have the DVD, but I wouldn't consider it one of my top ten musicals. It is a good time pass, however.

Charles B. Griffith wrote some of my favorite movies, too, DR MBARNUM, including NOT OF THIS EARTH, IT CONQUERED THE WORLD, and LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS....and he was the voice of Audrey, Jr. in the latter.

Ah...

Well, after some Googling...  The Plaza had the Oak Bar (which is a room), and The Algonquin has the Oak Room (which has a bar).

My family celebrated all sorts of special occasions at the Oak Room.  It's in the Plaza, and I hope it'll resurface after the renovation.

A friend of mine grew up at the Algonquin.  I'm sure he'll confirm that if the Algonquin's calling anything The Oak Room, it's a recent innovation.

Top 5 Criterion releases (for me):

ALL THAT HEAVEN ALLOWS
ATOMIC SUBMARINE
THE BAD SLEEP WELL
THE BLOB
HIGH AND LOW

Special mention:
THE NAKED CITY
PORT OF SHADOWS

I would love to see them re-release CHUSHINGURA. The previous release was so blurry and fuzzy that it is almost unwatchable. It is a beautiful film and deservers a complete make-over.

My co-worker has new speakers attached to his computer and is now playing an EAGLES cd.

Unfortunately, THE EAGLES are one of my very least favorite groups.

I think this is his revenge for some of my Bollywood CDs.

And the word of the day is: MOLIMINOUS!
Ricardo, the parking attendant, told his partner Hasim "That tour group from Japan was freaky, man!  The SUMO IN LIMO number five was so MOLIMINOUS that he blew out the tires on his own car and the two on either side!"

What we do at the fundraiser isn't the question - it's the funding.  So far I've got fifteen really wonderful performers and am ready to book the additional ten or fifteen - but am now going to sit and wait until this is resolved one way or another by noon.  I should be working on it, but given what's gone on I'm not confident it will be resolved to my satisfaction.  We'll either postpone till January (in which case we eat a little money that we've already spent - and the funders will have to make that up by adding to the budget) or we'll cancel altogether, which would not be wonderful, but if it's necessary, that's what we'll do.

Hi, folks! What a lovely day! Yesterday I toddled over to the Getty Museum, just off the 405, to walk around the garden. So beautiful. I remember one time when Jane was in town, we strolled through the lush flowering wonderland. Well, since that time, the maze at the bottom has really filled in - it is created from hundreds of azaleas, clipped uniformly by some pretty dedicated gardeners! Like something out of Alice in Wonderland!! Quite a lot of the maze was flowering... I'm waitin' for spring!!!!

Wherever ye be, it be spring!

Good morning, HHW!

Just a few minutes before I have to scoot and tend to errands.

CONGRATS to DR RON on his impressive milestone.

My milestone....possibly someone else's millstone.  My heart leaps for joy.

Thanks, Jeanne, for the sentiment.
