(If there is any doubt, the characters all begin marching as the characters in Les Miz do at the end of the first act). I've decided something I love about these shows is the little references to other musicals. It's very likely that some audience members are theatre fanatics, such as yours truly, and will get and appreciate the jokes, whereas nothing is taken away from those who don't get them.

In addition to Les Miz, I saw delightful quotes from Evita and Ragtime. The joy is that they are not just "nods" but creatively integrated into the show.

Of course some snark or other will probably accuse bk of copying from other shows!

I am MUNCHING  (a Singdaw reference) on a FAUX LEVAIN chocolate chip cookie. FAUX, I tell you, FAUX.

And after all that glorious food last week did you notice that now JOSE is talking about going to the gym?

What Jose is leaving out is the proximity of the gym to Levain's...whether he must pass Levain's to get to the gym...and again upon his return.

Actually he was an Egyptian chauffeur, and how do you know I did not succeed  ;)

I read about it in the Times.

I'd have guessed it's 'cause he's said nothing about mummies, sphinxes, pyramids or Egyptian movies.

Back from lunch.  I had today's special -- chicken piccata with wilted spinach and pasta.

Ooooohh....but it was tasty!

I just read George Grizzard passed away.  He was 79.  The article talked about his career but didn't include a photo-odd.

How awful about George Grizzard. I always thought he was a marvelous actor.

My five favorite Criterions are:

Rebecca
The Red Shoes
Charade
Maurice
Howard's End

I didn't even remember that HOWARD'S END or MAURICE was a Criterion release. They're certainly fabulous.

The Criterions are certainly the best-looking releases of those films, IMO.

Surprise, surprise-not….

Through August, more than 25 percent of flights have arrived late — the industry's worst on-time performance since comparable data began being collected in 1995.

I began my afternoon watching a special feature on the first disc of CSI: NY. It had to do with the making of episode #4 (which I had watched this morning). Interesting way they got the idea for this episode which revolved around Greek mythology.

Sad to say, I did not get the Mickey-Judy box today.

I did get the next box set from Paramount I'll be starting on after I finish CSI: NY.

MEDIUM - Season 3.

Next I watched a couple more CSI: NY episodes (these on disc two). The second episode I watched had an audio commentary which I listened to. It was the episode that involved the Suicide Girls, and one of them was one of the commentators.

Next, I watched last night's BOSTON LEGAL. I enjoyed the episode much more than last week.

I still am not warming to the two new female attorneys in the firm. At least guest star Mark Valley is getting some courtroom time which is more than he got during his previous two seasons on the show.

Next, I skimmed through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. The gay storyline was again present. It doesn't appear to be a part of tomorrow's show, however.

I ended the afternoon rewatching SUnday night's BROTHERS & SISTERS. Even though I knew exactly everything that was going to happen, it still brought me to tears. For some reason, that show affects me more than any other on TV. (GREY'S ANATOMY is the closest competitor.)

Why is my heart marooned without you
The sun goes down
My dreams begin their refrain
I call to whatever holds you
My beloved
I wait and I wait

Why is my heart marooned without you
A tiny light upon the sea
My heart is so afraid
You have broken away
Tell me, darling, I pray
You will come to me soon

Strange, that no one here has yet commented on this press release over at Playbill.com.

Good, no coconut.  And toasted pecans are much better than plain pecans.  I like pineapple.  I'm very willing to give it a try ;).  Those oatmeal raisin cookies at Levain's are really tempting.

They are, as DR Samantha would say "OMG good"

Ok, this is a confession I never ever thought I would make.....

That would be a good first line for a book, wouldn't it.

Anyway, I have been having trouble getting motivated to work, so I put on my LEGALLY BLONDE CD and....it worked!   LOL,  I've been cranking out letters, making phone calls and getting very organized.

This is too funny, but hey, if it works....

No, but someone's cruising for not surviving the trip.
