Back from rehearsal, which was fun, and must now get a spot of lunch.

Glad Jose cleared up the Sept 1st/October 1st mystery - what Noel was saying didn't make sense to me but now does.

Oh... And after Googling, I came across Peter Marks - he was still with the New York Times at that time - review of Signature Theatre's production of Working.  -And I was "reminded" yet again of the some mis-leading, mistaken wording in his review:Hmm... I don't seem to recall Eric Schaeffer being a part of the original Broadway production.

One of my favorite quotes from the book "Working" not sure if it made the musical, was "You can sit at home and be mad at the world, or else you can go out and do something"

Quote
'Damages': Is it endangered?

“Damages” fans waiting for illumination about the murder mystery at the heart of the FX drama are hoping to garner some more clues when the show’s third-to-last episode airs at 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Even though network executives promise there will be a satisfying conclusion to the Patty Hewes-Arthur Frobisher showdown by the end of the season, they can’t say as much about the fate of the series.

Although the intricately plotted legal thriller starring Glenn Close and Ted Danson has gained a passionate following, it has not been as sizable as the cable network had hoped.  By the end of each week, episodes have averaged a cumulative viewership of 4.9 million people, including 2.4 million 18- to 49-year-olds. Live viewing, on which the network bases most of its ad sales, is substantially lower.

DerBrucer's You Tube link made me wonder if Hare and Guu had made it there.  I should have known:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=xNxQ_8RQ3CQ

These clips feature different translations than the set I got, and the arrangment of the theme is a bit different.  But you still get the exciting LOVE LOVE LOVE TROPICANA, which is, of course, the highlight.

I have survived my weirdest ever DVD reviewing experience:

http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?___f=preview&ID=30905&___r=/reviews/login/reviews.php?recordState%3DApproved

Has anyone seen this show?

Guu turns out to be something of a shape-shifter, with powers that are revealed over the course of the series, all of them seemingly designed expressly to drive Hare crazy.

Does bk have a Guu in his life?

Well, not only am I working on Columbus Day, but I'm still here. I think I shall remedy that by going home.  I have things to do, but not too much more I can do until the courthouse etc is open tomorrow.

My cable company would not supply a free HDMI cable. They would supply a free component set of cables, but I had plenty of those already.

Same here...I guess I had misunderstood somewhere along the way...which I discovered once I got to the Comcast office.

And thank you for the upconvert info...I am making a file of MattH helpful hints....and believe you me, they are helpful!!

For those who wanted or intended to purchase Sacco and Vanzetti on DVD but didn't get around to it, it is now available for 35% off HERE.

And remember:  Sacco is [was?] cute!       ;)

LOL! Thanks for that Singdaw! I didn't know it was for sale, so I'm going to send out that link as well.

Peter also set up a S&V membership on MySpace:

so if anyone wants to be our friend...  :)

Please remind me NEVER to accept any gigs requiring memorization.

Blech!    :P

Nelson Eddy can kiss my grits.    :-\

Have you actually done the gig yet, Singdaw, or are you and "Jeanette" still rehearsing?

DR JoseSPiano - have you ever shopped at the Amish Market on 9th Avenue?  I don't know how their prices are, but they seemed to have a very nice selection of prepared meals as well as fresh produce.

I love the Amish market. When I'm working in NY I often pick up a few items there for lunch. Although it seems pricey, it's still cheaper than going to a restaurant!

I also used to go to the one down by the World Trade Center, but I think that building was another 9/11 casualty.

DR MBarnum, here's td's helpful hint of the day:
Whenever I calibrate my set(s), or re-calibrate, I always pick one specific movie on dvd, a film with a color scheme that is not muted, but vibrant, a look which I would recognize in a minute.  I have never really used the THX Optimizers on Disney and other dvds, since going with a personal favorite has always done the trick for me. Not knowing what is in your dvd library, I can't make the suggestion as to what you should try. . .I know that "The Night They Invented Champagne" sequence in GIGI has been one of my most popular choices: it has vibrant REDS(which I don't want to be tomato soup orange or bleeding), deep BLUES (which I don't want to appear as blacks), rich TEXTURES (which I don't want to lose the detail on), indoor lighting (which should not be 'blooming") and three actors with varying degrees of SKIN TONES.
While you're calibrating, have a pad and pencil handy to write down the settings, then put that paper somewhere where you'll KNOW where it is should you ever have to re-tweak. . .

Alas, Columbus Day is not a day of vacation for Oregon workers  :P

However, I don't go in to work until 1pm on Mondays....so I can do a little bit of power cord shopping.

Is that a euphemism?

I'm also writing a new musical for NYMF, another World Premiere about a website full of wacky people, three of whom are doing NYMF shows.  I think it will be very amusing, and also quite touching.

Don't forget the recurring Swedish Chef Hat that pops up all over the country.

No, the rehearsing is done.  Just the memorization to go.

Two shows this coming Saturday night.

More thrills than a stroll around the reservoir.

Thanks.  This is not such a bad place to spend so much time!

Good Evening!

Back from Central Park...  I found a nice piece of earth to stretch out on - and I even remembered to bring a blanket this time - put my iPod on, hit "Play", took my book out...  Then just sat in the park listening to music for about two hours.  -It's just not in me to listen to music passively.  But it was great music.

*And I'm still trying to figure out why there were large groups of school children being chaperoned throughout the Park earlier this afternoon.  I thought NYC schools were out for the day?  Or could these have been groups of kids from daycare?

DR Ginny - As for the Amish Market - I like it, but since I'm not usually working near one, I don't shop there that often.  And, yes, their prepared foods section is quite nice - and not that Amish.  ;)
