Good morning!

Today looks to repeat yesterday's weather exactly: fairly cool morning folowed by hot afternoon nearing 90. But today should be the last of this. Cooler temperatures begin tomorrow. It can't come soon enough for me.

I won't dance, don't ask me.

I won't dance, don't beg me.

I won't dance, I may sneeze on you.

So many fabulous Gershwin songs. The very first one that popped to mind when I read the topic of the day was "They Can't Take That Away from Me."

Among the others I really love: "Liza," "Fascinating Rhythm," "Someone to Watch Over Me," "Of Thee I Sing," "I Got Rhythm."

All of Ira's work in LADY IN THE DARK and A STAR IS BORN is inspired. I particularly love "The Man That Got Away" and "Girl of the Moment."

I spent a good portion of the morning finishing up the MEDIUM box set. Some excellent bonus features in the set including lengthy featurettes on the various story arcs for the season and one that focuses on the special effects that had to be created for season three episodes.

I just heard a contractor, presumably from Boston, pronounce the word "carpet."

He made it into a least a four syllable word!

I'll use lunch preparation time and the early afternoon watching some of the TV shows that have built up on the DVR over the past two evenings. I should be getting both THE HOAX, THE INVISIBLE, and UNDER THE VOLCANO in the mail today, and it will be one of the first two that I watch early this evening before prime time starts.

For Chris Haley's cabaret act, Pour Me a Man, I wrote her a second verse to Vodka.  Now, if only I could find it...

We'll have to agree to disagree.

(Oh, what the hey!)

I take exception to that statement because I disagree to disagreeing.  I want you to see things MY way!

TOD:

I adore all Gershwin and always have. That said,

SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME
FASCINATING RHYTHM
SUMMERTIME

Now that I think about it, I may just have to put Gershwin(s) in the same category of JS Bach and Beethoven, ie, their music restores my faith in mankind.

I've had a good three-day weekend.

It included watching "Swing Shift Maisie" with Ann Sothern and James Craig.  Lots of fun.  I love Ann Sothern and "Maisie" is one of my favorite film series.

I also watched (for the 5 millionth time) "A Room With A View."  This time, though, I gambled on the recent HD-DVD release actualy being better than the last sterling special edition.

I didn't think there'd be much improvement, but I imagined there would be some.

I was wrong.

This film looks vibrantly new and sharp and deep and colorful.

It's a-m-a-z-i-n-g in high definition.  The DTS sound is stunning.

It's one of a handful of films I consider to be "perfect" and it has its definitive home video presentation in high definition.

As for today, Tuesday, October 9th....

...you could cast me in "The Sound of Mucous" today.

THAT's my state of health, sadly.  I'm in the early onset throes of a major head cold.

Somebody haul out the "Phlegmatic"!  I need draining right now!

Hey sis, those get well vibes were for you, too -- maybe you picked up some disease, or the plague (there was a mouse in there!) from that sublet... I've been busy writing papers for my Master course work, so my brain is hurting -- and I've got another due next week ....
