DR Cillaliz wrote this about last night's DANCING WITH THE STARS.

Quote
I agree on the bottom 2.  I loved Mel and Max - I thought it was amazing they could do that in 6 hours.  It isn't that she doesn't want to work more, it's schedules, I think Jennie has improved the most and I liked Sabrina.  I do like Helio and Julianne, but I'm not sure they are still my favorites. I think this is going to be really close in the end

I actually disagree about Mel. Last week she had the tough schedule. They didn't mention anything about her having that same schedule this week.  I just don't buy it. Even with sabrina's ridiculous sched this week. I bet she did more like 20-25 hours of rehearsal.

Yes it is impressive that mel could do that well without rehearsing. But it made me really mad after i heard that.

I agree that jennie has improved a lot. bUt i think the brother sister (julianne and her bro who is jennie's partner) are just fabulous choreographers. And i think that helps a lot.

It will be interesting to see who is F3. Because a lot of it is fanvote and popularity. I"m not sure if jennie is THAT popular. Or Sabrina. And since mel was in B2 early on. I just don't think she has the fan vote.  Even though marie is nice. I hope she doesn't have the fan vote that will keep her till the end.

DR EDISAURUS - Slaughter is probably my LEAST favorite part of WORDS AND MUSIC.....  And I keep wondering why the Blackburn Twins don't stand up straight when they dance!!!

DR JMK -- "Slaughter..." is one of my MOST favorite moments in this wonderful film (musically, not so much as a "story").

The Blackburns were tall men, compared to some of the stars they danced with...I suspect they spent their professional lives attempting to compensate.  June Allyson was ... what?... 4-foot-9?

My most favorite number in the film:  "Where's That Rainbow?"  Ann Sothern and the Blackburns are tremendous in this wonderful number.  The presentation, the color palette, the orchestrations and the performance mesh beautifully.  I can't watch this number without a huge grin on my face and my toes tapping.

Ann with Ramon & Royce Blackburn - that is a lovely number.  But they hunch over when dancing "Thou Swell" - maybe because June Allyson is so short.

"Slaughter" - well......it's that truck driver-artiste.

There you go again...I'd rather watch Kelly's butch musical persona on screen -- and his inspired dancing -- more than than anyone else....other than watching the genius of Fred Astaire.

All this FJL foot talk reminded me of that awful foot problem I had where one of my toes swelled up as big as a football and how painful it was.  Had to go to the doctor, where I almost fainted, and then had to go to NY to record something or do something and I could barely get a shoe on - he gave me medication and it went down during the NY trip, but it was awful.  I wonder if that was during the last six years?  If so, I'm sure I wrote about it in detail.

RE: last night's HEROES

SPOILERS

*
*
*

I mostly liked last night's show.

I liked the stuff with claire and the cheerleader.

I could have done with the stuff with maya. But sylar makes it sort of bearable.

I'm hoping we are getting to the end of hiro in the Old times. I want him back now!

I found the stuff with claire's dad and the haitian interesting. ANd i love seeing the paintings. But i was a bit surprised at how they just had him shoot that guy. I thought they were trying to make him seem/act more like a realy good guy.

Btw, did anyone make it anything in the paintings? Was that suresh with the gun?

I was a bit disappointed not to see any of montreal. I thought they were going to show more. Maybe next week if they go back (not sure if they do).

Here is the televisionwithoutpity recap:

They say re: the paintings:

They seem to show, in succession, a hand with a vial, a blonde woman who appears to be trapped, Hiro and Kensei fighting, a guy who might be Peter or Sylar who's holding a smoking gun, and Bennet's own painting.

I watched a lot of the CBS comedy line up last night.

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER has a couple of good guy actors, Neil Patrick Harris and Josh Radner - and Allyson Hannigan is okay....but the other girl Cobie Smulders is pretty bad....almost Debra Messing bad.   And the writing is so ordinary.....

I watched BIG BANG THEORY for the first time.  I thought it was funny.  I like Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons as Sheldon and Leonard - a nod to a prolific producer? - and some of the jokes were funny....I may watch it again.   I am a little behind on the character relationships, but the cast is good....at least they know how to time a gag, especially Parsons.

Two and Half Men is a show I like mostly because I like Sheen and Cryer. Holland Taylor was also pretty funny last night:  "I was not put on this earth to help you." she tells her son.

I don't see how that is even POSSible!

I "endured" a film a week ago on one of the cable channels that starred Debra Messing as a woman who was going to England for a wedding and hired an escort (Dermot Mulroney) to "play" her boyfriend.

Messing seemingly went out of her way to look as bad in each scene as she possibly could.  There was one laugh-out-loud scene of her and Holland Taylor (who played her mother) in a beauty shop...rollers in hair...getting the "treatment" so they'd be all spiffy for the wedding.  Taylor turned out great....Messing showed NO EVIDENCE of having had anyone touch her hair with anything other than oil...it was straight, askew, and her roots were evident throughout the film.

It was inconceivable to me that Mulroney would have fallen in love with her...or that anyone would not have told her she looked as if she were a guttersnipe.

Good morning.  Today seems a bit odd.  It's very quiet, and it's almost 9:00.  It's also quite foggy.  I'm hoping fall as finally arrived and will be staying until Winter kicks it in the buttcheeks and takes over.

TOD - I don't read speculative fiction.  James Patterson is more my speed.

Right now I'm sitting on the couch with a the DD (Dear Dog) asleep up against my leg.  Calm before the storm as he's getting groomed today.

Nothing else from the Area of the Bay in CA.

Artie's just delivered some matzoh ball soup which was good for my soul if nothing else and I'm lying down and watching tv.  Does anyone besides me watch Showtime's BROTHERHOOD? It's like an Irish clan verasion of THE SOPRANOS and I like it very much.

I am "preparing" some chicken noodle soup.  I put a whole chicken in a crockpot last night and it cooked all night.  Tonight, I will use some chicken stock and assemble some "Jewish penicillin" combining bits and pieces of various recipes to see what wonder I can create.

Good Morning!  Good Afternoon!

I'm up, I'm up... And, yes, I've already been to the gym.

I tried a new workout routine this morning, and I'm not sure I'm going to stick with it.  Nothing was too taxing, nor too complicated, but there were just a lot of things to do, and, consequently, it took a lot of time.  Yes, I like taking my time at the gym, but after a 15-minute warm-up/stretch, 40 minutes of resistance training, 5 minutes of ab work, then another 20 minutes of cardio, well...  With the way my schedule is shaping up for the next couple of weeks, I believe I need something a bit more streamlined.  We shall see.

I have a dentist appointment this afternoon at 1.

This will be my first time with this dentist.  She actually has a practice with one other dentist.

This should be a refreshing change-of-pace from the dentistry-by-assembly of my last medical-plan-dentist.  In that place, the first thing they want is your insurance card or a deposit.  Never mind if you are in pain or whatever.  If you don't have insurance, they take the next hour signing you up with a company that will finance your procedure with a repayment plan fully documented BEFORE you see a dentist.

Also, you could see every dentist's chair/patient through the reception area....looking like a large beauty salon where you can see each cutter/client in a Busby-Berkeley-like display.

Has anyone been seeing the promos for the upcoming Dreamworks Animation film "The Bee"?

Jerry Seinfeld is everywhere in them.  And what I'm wondering is whether anyone else is confused about there not being anything remotely "funny" about them.  Jerry mugs.  Jerry talks.  Jerry does this, that and the other.  Folks talk about Jerry -- he's so funny, he has assembled a great cast, he's a genius.  And yet, nothing in evidence seems to be offered that makes this movie appealing to me in the least bit.

Funny man?  Jerry Seinfeld?  He's never made me laugh at all.  Moreso (or less) now than ever.

I had hoped to get up early enough to get my workout in and a haircut before noon, but since I did not make it to the gym until 9:30, well... I have a few errands to run this afternoon, and they're all in different parts of town, so I'm trying to plan the most convenient routing.  I guess I can get my haircut tomorrow, although there may be a way to get it in this afternoon.  We shall see.

The upload folder is still full and needs to be purged.  In the meantime, you can still link to pictures if they're hosted on another site like photobucket, flickr, etc.  or one of your own website(s).
