Good Evening!

Well, since I needed to eat some dinner, I decided to go ahead and head to midtown to get a bite to eat.  I also just wanted to get out of the apartment for a bit.  -And, yes, it's raining - and it's a cold rain too.  In any case...

I decided on a sushi place, but ended up having Salmon Teriyaki.  While I was there, I ran into one of the house contractors (the guy in charge of taking roll and submitting payroll for the pit orchestras in each theatre).  After saying Hi, he asked me, "So, did you hear if we're actually going on tonight?"  I told him that when I checked the internet before I left the house that the strike was still on hold.  Apparently, IATSE could have been called the strike as late as 7:00 tonight.  He also didn't seem too optimistic that there wouldn't be some sort of work stoppage in the coming days.  :-\

I read the strike has been called for the morning (IATSE, that is).  Whether they'll actually do it is another story.  They will receive so much negative press that I, for one, think that the powers that be are blustering, and I'm not sure they'd have the guts to go through with it - should they have the guts, I doubt it will last very long.

Trying to decide what I'm in the mood for.  Of course, if I go out, my choices are very limited as it's Friday night and everywhere I like is crowded.

I shall also watch a Bollywood movie tonight (rather, another Tollywood movie) titled GEMINI starring the most gloriously hunky Tamil actor Vikram! I shall have sweet dreams tonight!

Vikram is what would be if Tom Selleck and Al Parker had a baby.

But before Tollywood, I must eat dinner and finish my 1944 Universal musical (with gowns by Vera West) SING A JINGLE starring Allan Jones and June Vincent.

Listening to Michel Legrand music, waiting for my dinner companions to arrive - were supposed to be here thirty minutes ago, but not getting here before seven-fifteen.  I may be passed out on the floor before then.

We were deciding where to take sherlock this afternoon, hike or the dog park, when we received a call to meet Boulder at the dog park.  Boulder is the Bernese Mountain Dog who ran straight at me with Sherlock.  This time Keith joined us.

It was unusually busy at the park, yet there was Boulder waiting for Sherlock as we entered the gate.  They had a great time playing.

We won't see much of Boulder after the first of the year.  He will be busy training to be an avalanche rescue dog, and then working the slopes on Mt. Ashland.

Bruce left while I was tying-TYPING WITH BOTH HANDS AND NINE FINGERS!  I didn't use my left thumb.

I should really stop cuz it is hurting most of the fingers on my left hand, but it feels like such a big accomplishment. ;D

ok, i'm done with that-back to the one finger method.

I was able to finish all of the special features on the CARS Blu-ray disc. It's a gorgeous transfer, and the special features do give a complete picture of how the film was made. They did A LOT of research not only on NASCAR but also on the old Route 66 where the lengthy middle portion of the picture takes place. All of those stores in Radiator Springs were based on actual stores they saw along the highway.

I did watch last night's MY NAME IS EARL. Very funny "Scared Straight" scenario, and Randy and Earl's bickering didn't get resolved, so the episode is continued next week.

Before I headed out to my friend's house, I also watched the opening sequence of GHOST WHISPERER. I'll have to finish it sometime tomorrow. I also recorded MOONLIGHT and WOMEN'S MURDER CLUB.

At my friend's house, we watched JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT with Donny Osmond. He'd only seen portions of it on PBS, so we watched it. Donny's in very good voice and looks very nice (so does Robert Torti). Maria Friedman's the Narrator singing very nicely. I am not a fan of the show, and I'm definitely not a fan of this phony-baloney filming of it.

The transfer is fairly old now, and the DVD is not enhanced for widescreen TVs. The DTS track is what we listened to, and it is resonant and full-bodied.
