I am neither in favor of, or opposed to Hilary Clinton.  However, it seems rather ridiculous for any candidate to start gloating about who they would beat if the election were held today.  The point is that the election is not being held today, next week or next month.

There are a lot of ups and down, glories and  goofs, etc., between now and November.

TCB, they are talking about it because a lot of people are worried about electability. Who can actually win the election.

The birthday party for Steve's mother, Dora, was a complete success.  It was her first time in Steve's new condo - well, it was new two years ago.  She has some mobility issues right now, so it took a while for her to get up to his place on the fourth floor from the lobby of the building.  She had wanted to walk from the entrance to the central elevator, but already needed to sit down after coming through the front doors.  So, they went ahead and got her wheelchair for her, and that made things a whole lot easier.  -And she was also able to tour the place too from the comfort of her wheels.

She loved Steve's new place, and she really loved Steve's grand piano.  She played for about an hour or so, just reading through various books that Steve had around.  I have to say, she's quite the good sight-reader.

Eventually, the rest of the family arrived: Steve's two sisters, a husband, some grandchildren and a girlfriend.  Her grandson had brought some roses for her, and she was visibly moved by the gesture.  Very sweet.

As for the tacos... There were hardly any leftovers.  :)  I had a blast cooking again, and it was nice to know that my catering skills weren't that rusty.  Everything was ready at the right time, and I set up a good assembly line for the tacos.

For dessert, Steve had bought a Coconut Cake from the Vietnamese bakery in town.  It was not your typical Coconut Cake, more like a Coconut Cream Cake.  It seemed to be equal parts cake and cream/frosting, and most of the coconut flavor was in the cream/frosting.  Quite good, and deceivingly light.  We had also picked up a Pumpkin Pie earlier at the store, as well as some Breyer's Vanilla.  :)

It really was a wonderful party, and I'm glad I was able to help Steve out today.  And, tomorrow, he's buying me dinner.  :)

The Christmas Box of Molly and Austin was at their Seattle Post Office on December 11 - but NO ONE put a card in their box telling them they had a large package waiting.

On the Fifth Day of Christmas.... :)

Now I KNOW that all HHW'ers were good as gold angels in houses of worship across the country when they were tykes - BUT was there one subject or sermon that caused stifled laughs....was there something the speaker said that made you bite your tongue to keep from laughing OUT LOUD IN CHURCH????

For my brothers and me it was:

Balaam's ass.

Well... I'm sure there was a sermon or subject that made me laugh in church when I was younger, however... If I went to church with my cousin, Richard, it would sometimes turn into a "who can make the other one laugh" contest during the Homily.  But I think my "favorite" memory was doing the Hand-Jive to "Now Thank We All Our God".  ;D

This is very strange!  Both the NBC local affiliate and the CBS affiliate are showing the live NFL game between New England and NY.  I thought this game was only going to be shown on the NFL network.  Instead, it seems to be on almost all of the networks!

My brothers and my Dad were talking about that yesterday.  Apparently, it had to do with some last-minute changes of the start times for this weekend's games.

Well, MY mother used to take corn tortillas and fry them up into hard shells herself.  None of this pre-made taco shell nonsense for HER!

(Braggy snarky rights claimed here!)

And she was from upstate New York - she learned how to cook Mexican specialties on her own.

Trust me, if I could have fried up the tortillas myself, I would have.  However, there is something to be said for convenience.  :)

Wow the price on the Torchwood Box is a bit steep, isn't it?

I said the same thing weeks ago when I checked the price. I will NOT be paying that for 13 episodes no matter how much I loved the series. That's as much as they ask for a complete season of CSI or LOST.

At some point the price will come down or a sale will occur to clear some stock off the shelves, and I'll snap one up then.

It was a lot of fun seeing guest stars, sometimes not in the main role but folks who went on to star careers: Stuart Whitman being the primary one.

Denver Pyle and  Richard Deacon were other guests I'm remembering.

And in the last episode I watched, the primary guest star was Angie Dickinson playing one of the least convincing Indians I've ever seen on TV.

The only bonus feature were some brief sponsor spots for L&M cigarettes and one for Remington shavers.

Most of the time, Arness was in regular clothes when he lit up, but in one of the spots, he's dressed as Matt Dillon, and it's very odd seeing Matt Dillon smoke.

For some reason I was craving a cup of coffee tonight....so I am now brewing some and will eat some Christmas cookies that I received in care of my buddy Jim.

And then on to finish my Madhubala movie.

Well... All that is left to do is to cook up the ground beef and chicken breasts, and warm up the taco shells (hard and soft).

It's been nice being "domestic" for the past few hours.  And I didn't have to don that French main's uniform I usually am asked to wear.  ;)

Obviously, I'll easily finish these tomorrow, so I'll have to decide what movies I want to watch next. I got CHILDREN OF MEN for Christmas, and I'd like to watch it. I've heard so many positive comments about it. And maybe a Blu-ray, too. Perhaps 2001 or THE WILD BUNCH. I'd like to see how they look in high definition.

I think he expressed his displeasure to his star and probably has continued to rant on on a daily basis, at least that's what I got from the tone of his e-mail.

BK meets some of the most interesting people!

(OK, I meet them, too, but when I do it's just a pain in the a**.)

Steve's made an appearance on this site before.  I think.  ???

Pictures were taken tonight, but since Steve's family tends to be a bit "private", I'm retaining their privacy.
