As for the Topic of the Day...

The first one that pops into my head is that "Grand Canyon" short that Walt Disney released.  It's the one that uses Ferde Grofé's "Grand Canyon Suite".  When I was in grade school, we watched this every year, and it always fascinated me.  And since I have yet to see the Grand Canyon up close, it's still "another world" to me.

Does he sing IF I RULED THE WORLD?

He does not, but given all the plots going on in the BBC adaptation, the musical version must have been greatly simplified to add a lot of music to a 2.5 hour show!

Last night I finished watching THE PICKWICK PAPERS, which was a wonderful BBC production filled with 3 hours of silliness and good humor leading to a very emotional and sobering stay in the Fleet Prison before everything reached its happy conclusion.  i've never read the novel, but I thoroughly enjoyed the production and a wonderful cast.

I just put this on our NetFlix queue.

We never finished watching MANSFIELD PARK last night.  The quality of the film began to deteriorate & become progressively worse until we finally turned it off.  I can’t say I was disappointed.  I found the speed of which the plot progressed even more frenzied than PERSUASIAN & less tolerable.

Fanny Price cannot be an easy character to capture on film while maintaining her position as the heroine.  Has this been accomplished & any recommendations on which version to watch?

I had this BBC adaptation on VHS and I liked it very much.  Anna Massey is a great Aunt norris.

So this African-American gospel group that we sang with at services this past Sunday was selling CDs, and I bought some.

I put the first one into my car's CD player on my way to work this morning.  This particular recording contains a very prominent, very enthusiastic tenor as a member of the ensemble who is unfortunately about a half-step flat.  Consistently.

Oh, my ears!    :P

Hey, I have an idea: Let's introduce DR TCB's bacteria to DR elmore3003's bedbugs.

Let it be a fight to the finish!

The thing is, if you TRY to do this intentionally, it's very hard!  We used to amuse ourselves in college by trying to sing duets of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" in minor seconds - how long can you stay on track?!

Today I had to go to the bank to hear about interest rates. I felt like the little kids in the Charlie Brown series. "Blah blah blah..."

When I worked at a bank, the receptionist always used to transfer all the people calling to ask about mortgage rates to me.  :(

And we got a lot of those calls.  The bank's radio spots featured THE LOAN A-RRRRANGER!

Thanks Larry.  I'll add it to my q.  From your previous comments I won't expect greatness, just good.:)

I also added the 1995 PERSUASION with Amanda Root.

Does the "Blah, blah, blah" in SPRING AWAKENING's "Totally F***ed" number have its roots in the Charlie Brown TV specials?
