I know someone that used to use Ginastera's "Concerto for Coloratura Soprano" on their answering machine...the climactic note was provided by the machine's "beep," and it was exactly the right note!  :)

The "Concerto for Coloratura Soprano" is by Reinhold Gleire.

-And I actually have a piano reduction of it.  Quite an interesting piece.

Although, if Ginastera had written a concerto for coloratura, I would most certainly be intrigued.

I'm sure that's a possible source of my crossed wires.

Very, very possible.

And the word of the day is: JEHU!
One of the things I don't miss about living in the Los Angeles area is the freeways, where the JEHUs and yahoos were often one and the same.

And that's coming from a non-driver!

Back from my meeting and enjoying my lunch of leftover chicken spaghetti, one of Richard's specialities.  I'm having to concentrate very hard on not getting tomato sauce on the white sweater I'm wearing today.l

Why be so conservative Singdaw!
A single strand of pearls is always proper.  A double strand would look, well, odd.

TOD:
Would love to see these on official CD releases:

And I second the motion for the WB All Stars Christmas Album, which is one swell LP...and I third the Dorothy Provine album.

We got a memo at work encouraging us to wear red tomorrow, Feb 1, to raise awareness for women at risk of heart disease.  Has anyone else heard about this?

I'm thinking of wearing my little red number:

I can see it! ;)

If this question was asked before the holidays I would have had different responses but now since we have a new toy (the USB turntable) I don't have to worry so much. Yes, it would be great to see the vinyl pressed professionally but since we can do it ourselves with good results I'll be happy.

I will transfer the soundtrack of A Little Night Music to CD (yes, I know it's not a "stellar" recording but it's Sondheim).

I will transfer the 1964 Jerry Orbach The Cradle Will Rock to CD. This recording was my first exposure to the show. I do have the 1985 Acting Company recording (with Miss LuPone) but I prefer this one. It also has Miss Nancy Andrews, she of Little Me!

I agree with both of these choices! :) Other recordings already mentioned (and I own all of these albums...including the two above):

Man With a Load of Mischief (original off-Broadway cast)
Nerfertiti
Philemon

*And if your wear RED tomorrow and shop at Macy's, you can get a special 15%-off Savings Pass for the day.  Or you could just stop by their Accessories department and get a special pin and the pass for a $2.00 donation.

Is anyone out there enough of a hick to explain the appeal of football?

Andy Griffith did a pretty good job, back in the '50s.

I already have Philemon, thanks to a certain unnamed someone who keeps making mistakes (accidental recordings that is)  ;)

I'll have to catch up later - it's time to head in to work, and I won't be back until quite late.

Der B will be recording everything that is/was Lost.  Hopefully, I'll be able to watch tomorrow, while I make chicken stock.

Unless I'm called in to work.   :-\

DR Ben - How did Daniel Evans sound last night?  I heard that he was slightly under the weather on Tuesday...  ???

But, yes, his transformation in the second act is quite wonderful.  And I'm glad they retained the accents too.  :)

I think he sounded fine! I forgot to mention the accents. He's slightly amazing. When he opens his mouth you would never know he's from across the pond!

Does anyone have a recipe for disaster?

Back from a nice breakfast meeting with an interesting fellow - he's a film producer, but also heads up a charity organization (with various offshoots) called the Starlight Foundation.  Someone recommended me as the go-to guy to handle the entertainment portion of his fundraiser gala in June.  Since it seems like a fairly straightforward thing and since I love kids, I've agreed to do it.

I would only appear in the Fox documentary IF I was alongside Dr. Drew Casper so I could throttle him onscreen.
