Also, was I imagining things, or was Harold Perrineau listed in the credits?  I sure didn't see him--did anyone else?

No, he was not on last night. I can't remember where i heard it, but i think we will see him this season.

If Jose Can, I Can-Can Can, Too Department:

I also have a stack of DVDs, all new and mint (not in shrink, though), none of which are probably of interest to anyone, but, if so $5 each including shipping (for you U.S. folk) makes them yours:

Peter's Friends (Branagh, et al)
Steve Martin 3-fer (LA Story, All of Me, Novocaine)
Camp
History Channel:  Sherman's March
Prevention Magazine Drop it With Dance
Bill Gottleib Riffs (legendary jazz photographer)
Dizzy Gillespie in Jivin' in Be-Bop (great vintage 46 film)
The Story of Islam
Happy Feet
Ken Russell In Search of the English Folksong (weirdest documentary you have EVER seen)
Visions of Ireland
Kaspar Hauser (Peter Sehr, not Herzog, but incredible)
Dear Mr. Fantasy (Traffic concert for Jim Capaldi)

And because it's bigger and heavier $7.50 for 3 DVD David Grubin PBS doc The Mysterious Human Heart.

Bid now, bid often, take these DVDs.  Please.

SPOILERS re: last night's LOST premiere:

Curious what you other Lost-ophiles thought about last night's episode.  It didn't immediately "wow" me, but there were certainly some interesting new threads that may weave into something exciting.

I really liked it. But it's a lot to process.

What i liked:

1. The flashforward with hurley was very interesting.

2. The idea of Oceanic 6. Does that mean only 6 got off?

3. Hurley meeting jack. And then hurley meeting "charlie". Hurley in the mental institution (and that mystery black man who went there).

4.naomi disappearing.

5. kate stealing the phone from jack during their hug.

6.Hurley telling claire about charlie (broke my heart).

7.Everyone going with locke.

8. hurley hearing stuff at jacob's cabin.

9. Jack shooting locke (but no bullets).

10. And i liked the end too with the guy parachuting to jack and kate.

It was just very overwhelming. So much happened.

And as for "Lost" last night...

Did anyone watch "The View" yesterday?  Whoopi Goldberg announced that she was giving away a spoiler, but that it really wouldn't spoil anything for devoted viewers.  Well, from what I could tell, the spoiler she gave away didn't really apply until they started showing the previews for next week's episode.  ?!?!?!?

We shall see.

And now I'm off to play for Mssr. Morrison for a bit, and then I might be heading in for the brush-up rehearsal for A Chorus Line.  I need my Baayork fix for the week.

Laters...

During this past week, I've been fighting off various weather-related (lots of cold, rain, etc.) malaises, and one of the key ingredients in my "success" of same has been "teas".  For general malaise including upset stomach, peppermint tea works wonders for me.  I prefer Trader Joe's peppermint tea to any I've tried (only two other brands, but there it is).  And for stuffy sinuses, nothing beats Yogi Teas "Breathe Deeply".  It's all herbal and it's wonderful.

Today, I stumbled across this brand of tea, and I have to wonder if this tea is BODACIOUS:

I had an interesting/disturbing exchange at the store yesterday.

I was assigned for most of the evening to self-scan, but was spelling Larry at the express lane while he broke for his lunch.  The woman who was first to come up for my turn at the register was well over the fifteen-item express limit, and Larry had started to remind her that she was over, but I had said "Oh, no, it's OK," since she had already loaded about half her purchases onto the belt.

The woman had a defeated look to her.  "He sure seemed grumpy."

"Well, he lost his partner last August, and still isn't over it," I explained.  Larry and David had been together for twenty-two years.

"Oh.  Yes.  Well.  I've just had a death in the family.  Yesterday."

I gulped.

"I'm amazed I didn't start crying while I was here in the store."

"You have every right to cry.  Don't let anyone tell you otherwise."

She nodded.  "That, and because of it, I've had to move real fast."

I chanced to ask "Just how close a relative...?"

"Immediate family," she replied.  Ooops.  And thud.  It was code for her lover died, and she's been forced from the home they shared by her lover's family.  "I guess I should've seen the express lane sign, but my eyes have been real bleary."

"That, and it isn't very well lit.  A lot of people don't see it."  Truth to tell, a lot of people don't bother to look, but I wasn't about to say that under these circumstances.

We finished up with the scanning, bagging, and paying for her purchases.  "Just remember, you have every right to cry.  And you have every right to be angry."

She looked up at me, a bit startled.  "You're right, I am angry.  I'm a bit of everything right now.  Thank-you, you've been very kind.  And tell that other fellow that I appologize for being judgemental.  I didn't mean to be."

Fortunately, the rest of the evening was uneventful.

I have already put on a full suit of body armor, steel-toed work boots, a hockey mask on my face, and a football helmet........ all of this is in preparation for hurled eggs, slings and arrows, and justifiably delivered bitch-slaps from the fearless Poobah.   :-[

Let's just say that the past seven months or so have given traumatic, sad, and unimaginable a whole new meaning.  Selah.

I can't possibly make up for all of the missed birthdays and celebrations, but I can at least send a belated kiss (with tongue) to dearest Dear BK for his glorious birthday in December.

And the very best and sincerest Happy Birthday wishes to DR Kerry on his special day............. may cake appear from every corner of the land.

I also will admit that there is no way that I can go back and catch up on daily columns, and related notes ............

So, I have absolutely no idea of what is going on, births, deaths, major events, BK's new book in the works, etc.

But at least I'm trying to move forward.  And many thanks to those who wished me well on my own recent birthday -- thank you most sincerely.

Hello, DR MusicGuy!  Good to see you in the Living Room.

You haven't missed too much.  DR Tomovoz summarized pretty well just the other day:

Quote
Jose ate
SingDaw posted pics
Laura went to meetings
Sherlock froliced
Matt watched DVDs and cleaned house
Larry bitched
JMK parked his car
Assorted books have been read
Ben has a new PC
Debbie still can't type
Jack is Footloose
FJL was -- oh well you'll know that   ;)
You don't need to bother with much else.

Speaking of books being read, I'm working my way through WATER FOR ELEPHANTS, a highly original novel set in the circus world of the 1930s.

Back from a morning of information waitressing social work.  It's just amazing how many people stare at all the tax forms available for pick up and ask, "Which one's for the state?"

Um, the one that says:
