I appreciate the post, DR Cilla. You can't get too much info during an important election year as one tries to decide. I'm an independent so I am excluded from the primaries here in AZ (I just love how democratic our election process is, she says with much sarcasm -- let's see, winner takes all the delegates, and what is this caucus crap? --  :P to the two-party system and to the delegate voting system -- it should be by popular vote).

I made a vow that I would not vote for any Republican -- Bush and Cheney scared me so, along with the Evangelicals, hence it will be a long, long time before I get past the trauma that party has caused me (and our country) . Shame on the Demos, too, but the lesser of two evils I suppose...

I've been on the fence for a long time (and certainly haven't reached the point where I am sure enough to put a sign in the yard or post a bumper sticker) but if I had to vote tomorrow -- and was allowed to vote in the primary -- it would be for Hillary (so your info, DR Cilla, makes me feel a little better about that decision). I'm leaning toward seeing what a woman can do, even if she's a Clinton...

I was an independent when I lived in AZ, I would watch both parties and then switch to whichever I wanted to vote for.  I was a Republican a couple times and a Democrat a couple times.  So it's a closed election if you don't switch to one or the other from being an independent. That's really what Iowa is, too. I became a Democrat when I went to a Republican caucus in Iowa and the people at that particular caucus scared me Democrat.

On a funny note, my friend Paul would put a sign in his yard every time he picked a candidate. When the caucus was over, he had signs for Biden, Richardson and Obama and he caucused for Edwards.
I'm trying to encourage everyone to vote no matter who you support.

I went back to sleep for 3 hours this morning, I feel a little better, but still a little queasy. I had a baked potato around noon.  I really want to go to Michael Clayton, but I haven't done any of my weekend chores yet, so I think I'll go to the grocery store, and get some other things done instead.

Always nervous posting on politics as I usually put my foot in it. Dear Karen be brave, don't be afraid of Evangelicals; Some of my best friends are Evangelicals and there are lots of overlaps with RC, which is where I nest(Altho I do have one co-worker who could learn from some solid biblical form criticism, but it's a free country.) Re the Evangelicals I don't know, they range from the salt of the earth(we want the Formula)to evening shady Arkansas politicos.

I'm watching Food TV. This new show The Ultimate Recipe Showdown looks like a lot of fun.  People face off with their own recipes.

Last night, singingnymph said that she would soon be rehearsing Holst's arrangement of Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence.

I'm thinking that is a piece I should learn.

Nice to see the ever errant Miss K show up. Of course, she isn't likely to see THIS post because she doesn't catch up on the posts!

(She knows to what I refer!)

DR TPunk,
Re: the Mallory books: I read one, but really disliked the Mallory character. I found her (the character) quite obnoxious. I found the plotting interesting, but it fell apart for me toward the end. NOT my favorite author!

Just a beautiful day here. I took some time while lunch was cooking to sit on the porch, smell the fresh air, and just enjoy the beautiful, quiet Sunday.

Otherwise, I did laundry as I always do on Sunday. And I watched SOUL FOOD.

I watched five complete episodes of SOUL FOOD.

I am halfway through another episode of SOUL FOOD. And when I finish it, I will still have 11 more episodes to go! Argh!

There was one episode that was very involving. The 13 year old son of one of the sisters witnessed a drug shooting in an alley, and, of course, the rest of the episode involved keeping him hidden since he was the only witness and they didn't want him killed by the drug lords.

Isn't this a sad, scary commentary on the value of human life and the tragedy of innocent people getting dragged into something completely beyond their control and having no say-so in protecting themselves!

I'm still planning to take a break and watch LIFE OF BRIAN a little later today. I just can't go right back to SOUL FOOD.

The concert last night was wonderful.  The kids (there were a tolta of 90 in the mens choiri and 160 in the womens met for the first time at 9:30 in the morning and gave a perfomance at 7:30 that evening and it was really wonderful.

The womens sang 4 songs on their own and a 5th with an all women a capella group from Cornell University (HearSay) the men sang 3 and then a 4th with an all male a capella group from NYU (Mass Transist)

Then the two groups joined with the Newark Bioy's Choir and the NYC childrens choir (who each sadn a few songs ontheir  own) to sing 2 more songs and finally the NYC Children's orchestra/band (who had done 3  songs on their own) joined in and the entire ensemble did a world premier number that had been written for the occaision.

The venue was an old huge Catholic church with high vaulted ceilings covered in mahogony... the accoustics were phenomanal

Whata great night out!

Good afternoon, fellow Dear Readers.

I managed to get all the visitors greeted and nametagged. I got a list up to the worship leader so she could welcome them all by name. Many cookies eaten. Folks lingered and visited.
