Ginny, how is your aunt today?

Thanks for asking, Jane.  I just talked to my mom who'd had a call from my aunt (they're sisters) earlier today.  My aunt is pretty tired - 36 hours in a hospital is not restful, you know.  She will have another blood test tomorrow and she has a doctor's appointment on Tuesday.

I just got back from the grocery store. It was a ZOO. There were more people there than Thanksgiving.

WTF??  ???

The Hawaii Chair

Strangely, all of the people sitting in the chair sound like Meg Ryan in that infamous scene in WHEN HARRY MET SALLY.

I have this strange thing about the Super Bowl.  I don't watch it, and don't begrudge the people who do.  But since I feel like most of the rest of the world IS off watching, I have this strange sense that those few hours are "found time," when I can "catch up" while everyone else is off doing that other thing.  Weird, eh?

I really enjoyed CLOVERFIELD; it's a BLAIR WITCH monster film abut several young folk caught up in an attack on Manhattan, and very interestingly managed.

So, I'm back at Toyland, where I will now pack up my computer and tote it home.

Ta!

Hi Cilla!  Hi Ginny!  I am still pretty down, but oh well.  I am, of course, front  and center for the Super Bowl.

Good Evening!

I'm back from a rather nice walk through Central Park - well at least up the western side of it. And, yes, I did pass the Reservoir, and was tempted to walk around the Reservoir, but I just walked passed it.

..And I finally(!) called my Father to wish him a Happy Birthday.  Yes, a few days late, but the timing worked out.  My Mom was out shopping, so I didn't have to worry about her picking up the phone in mid-conversation asking, "Are you doing all right?"  ;)  He's doing well, my Mom's doing well, and they'll probably he heading back up to Atlantic City - with another side trip up to New York City - sometime in March.

SEMI-SPOILER AHEAD....

So.... Did the rest of your movie theatre audience start giggling in "shock" when they started using cellphones... in the subway?!?!?  ;)

Not weird at all.  I still remember the practice rooms at school being crowded on Super Bowl Sunday.  And, right now, we're actually going back through the DVR and re-watching and clearing a lot of the shows from the past week.

Regarding the semi-spoiler (I read it even though I haven't seen the film)

It is amazing the places cell phones work, in the world of make believe--sort of like the speed information can be retrieved from computers.

And I think DR Jane will appreciate this conversational snippet I overheard while walking around today:

Girl 1: Oh, have you ever eaten at that restaurant? (points to restaurant across the street)

Girl 2: Yeah, it's pretty good.  It's all organic.

Girl 1: That's cool.

Girl 2: Yeah, I eat a lot of soy, and most organic stuff is soy.
