I didn't mean to be rude by not responding, DR Ron Pulliam -- I guess I didn't log out before leaving for my walk.  Hi Ron!

On my way to the rebuilt high school to vote, I passed by my mother's house. The neighbor was outside. She tells me I chose nice neighbors for her.

Some of you (those who subscribe to the Cast Recording Listserv may have read this already but I found it enjoyable. It's an interview (from 2002) with

Barbara Harris

who is now living in Scottsdale, AZ

Wonderful interview.  Thanks for sharing it, Ben.  It makes me want to move to Scottsdale and take lessons.

DR Matthew - So.... If a singer came in with a song... And had it transposed... But had it transposed incorrectly... Even the chord symbols don't match up... And the singer doesn't really know the song... And the song happens to be from a very popular show... And sitting behind the table is one of the first conductors of said popular show... What would you do?  :-\

*Needless to say, I was in my own personal hell for about two minutes this morning.

My first response is to pray....

Second response, besides inner-rage, afterwards when the singer collected their music, I would politely say "you may want to check the transposition it doesn't seem to be right"

If it's a "popular" song from a "popular" show, the people behind the table will know she doesn't know the song and their attention would end there and they would be on to the next person.

I feel your pain, though.  However, the people behind the table will know how well you play and realize that it was not your playing that was the problem.  If they really liked her, they might have asked you about the music.  But an auditioner that is not prepared is not worth talking about, especially at this level.

The sox are sorted. I hadthree that didn'tmatch anything so I tossed them, and I just received a call that my new bed frame will be delivered on Thursday afternoon.  This is so exciting.

Today in the mail, I received CDs of the score to JUBILEE, in its March 1986 premiere. I'd had the original performances on cassette and pined for a means to convert them, but it was a nice surprise to get the score on CDs.  After those performances I made a few adjustments to things I was unhappy about, corrected a few notes, and the BBC Radio performance reflects the show as itnow exists. Still, there are many good things about the 1986 premiere.

I've done close to four pages - again, it's slow going as there's a lot of info being dispensed and one must try to keep it interesting.

"Sweeney Todd" in three hours.  I think I shall leave my hair cut until next week. Tomorrow's appointment in a dentist's chair will be enough horror.

My local used vinyl store does indeed sell those boxes, so I'm going to pick up a few right now.  Then I'll have some lunch (but not with David Wechter, who had to cancel) and then I'll slog on and do at least three to five more pages.

I did spend some time on the side porch just enjoying the fresh air and pretty weather. Wish I could have done some work like cleaning the leaves and pine needles off the roof, but I didn't have time to do that. Maybe by the weekend.

In the UPS mail today was BECOMING JANE but not GONE BABY GONE. These two releases must be being handled by different branches of Disney since they both do come out on Tuesday and are both on Blu-ray.

At any rate, unless GONE BABY GONE comes tomorrow (which I'd rather watch first), I'll be watching BECOMING JANE tomorrow.

While I was eating, I watched a CLOSER episode since the DVD was already in the player. It was the one that got Brenda and Provinsa placed on temporary leave. This was one of the few episodes of THE CLOSER where I solved the mystery before Brenda got to the resolution. I still enjoy watching it.

Next, I watched POWER RANGERS - STAR OF ISIS. Whoever is producing this series, they obviously decided they needed to up the ante since there were new characters, new weapons, new Zords, and more special effects than in the first three installemnts of the series I've watched in previous sets. These episodes were produced in a somewhat grander scale.
