I also watched the bonus features on the disc. There were only two of them. One was a 5-minute feature on the genetic enhancements the rangers have all undergone to increase some aspect of their power.

The other was a game to achieve the level of Reserve Ranger: for kids, a fun combination of trivia questions about the show, a reasonably simple geography lesson, and an arcade-tyle game.

I spent the last hour of the afternoon watching THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT III on Blu-ray. I watched it over the holidays, but I was taking notes then. I watched it just for fun this afternoon. I'll finish it when I go back down later.

One of the burning issues being tempest-tossed at FilmScoreMonthly Messageboard:

Who sang the title song for the movie "The River of No Return"?

Any thoughts here?

I'm having a frustrating afternoon.  I'm considering just going home.  It's snowing. I'm supposed to go to a reception for a guy running for Congress.  I want to go because I like the guy who is putting on the reception, but I really just want to take some work and go home.

Tennessee Ernie Ford

Yes, that's the general consensus.  The fellow who started the thread, though, is filled with doubt and an absolute certainty that it's Robert Mitchum.

He hinges his certainty in that Tennessee Ernie Ford was not given screen credit and surely WOULD have received it had it been him.

Several folks have told him it was not uncommon for films to have last-minute changes AFTER credits were done and that this was obviously the case here...but that Ford was definitely the singer, had a cover of the song and even did a cover with Monroe.

He refuses to believe it.  He cites the IMDb, which lists Mitchum (first) as singer of the song, then Tennessee Ernie and then Monroe, plus crediting Monroe for her other songs.  I've told him it seems  simple enough to me....Ford sang the title...and Mitchum and Monroe did their own singing in the film.  But....he's not convinced.

Is this person too young to have ever heard Tennessee Ernie on TV before? That's unquestionably his voice, and it's a trained voice, certainly not something Mitchum would have been able to do.

ARG!! I am so frustrated with my email!  I am just now getting email that was sent 3 1/2 hours ago. This has been happening lately and if it continues I may have to change email providers. I called today and they said they were having a delay.

I suppose I could slowly start changing things over to my website email.  I'm paying for the site anyway, it's just a really long address.

Well, I guess I'll do some writing, and then I must head downstairs and put fresh sheets on the bed. Another thing I did this afternoon while watching various things on TV was wash linens.

He was born in 1950.  He says he has always heard that it was Mitchum doing the singing.  Now that he's been offered up claims that Tennessee Ernie Ford was the singer, he claims he has compared Ford's single to the title in the movie, and he has concluded that it sounds more like Mitchum than Ernie Ford.  He cites Mitchum's title song for "Thunder Road" as his evidence that both songs are sung by the same man.

He's desperate for someone to agree with him.

Of course, you need to understand that I also know it's Tennessee Ernie Ford.  I'm offering the background of the discussion as a sample of the frustration I and others are experiencing with this "singular soul."

According to my Futurama calendar, today is Daisy and Violet Hilton's birthdays!  If they were still alive, they'd be exactly 100 years old!

You should bake a little cake, put 10 candles on it (one for each 10 years), take a picture, post it here and we'll all celebrate.

DR RLP - if Ford doesn't sing it over the credits, where in the movie DOES he sing it?  Can Mr Know It All answer that?
