Well the actor who I was to interview while I was in Los Angeles, and who was the entire reason for my making this trip, had to cancel on me as he got a gig in San Diego next week to film a infomercial  >:(

Oh, well, I will still have fun and you all know how much I love Los Angeles, California, USA.

DR Tomovoz - Nice pics!  And it's nice to know that Magnus has a puppy-friend next door to rub noses with.
Millie is way too boisterous for Magnus at the moment but he does "look" for her when he goes for his stroll and there is certainly a mutual friendliness.  Magnus and Fosca have always had a good relationship with their neighbours.

Hello from Magnus to Uncle Jose.

For the past 10 days we have had a pair of Sparrow Hawks here. Interesting to see them but given their dining habits I wish they would move on!

Well, I was originally going to have either their Chocolate Silk Pie or their Banana Pudding (which was the daily special dessert).  However, when I asked my waitress what I should have for dessert, she immediately came back with, "The Lemon Icebox Pie.  It's sooooo good."  So, I thought I'd give it a try, and since I had never had it there before, well...

And it was soooooooo good!

*And when I looked at the restaurant's cookbook - which I should have purchased today - the ingredient list for the Lemon Icebox Pie consisted of the following ingredients: lemon juice, eggs, sugar and condensed milk.   No wonder it was sooooooo good.  ;D

I've always enjoyed the movie for what it is:  A spectacular circus story told well and with a handsome cast.

Overlong for the story it has to tell; pretentious DeMille narrative, cornball.

Dinner:

Salmon pinwheels, stuffed with crab florentine.  (Store-bought, but cooked in my own oven.) (Pays to have a good seafood department.)

Mashed potatoes with chopped scallions.

Steamed Brussels sprouts, with a sorta beurre blanc (meaning lots of shallots and only one stick of butter).

(But since I'd never tried a beurre blanc before, going overboard with the shallots meant that if it had broken or otherwise failed, I could instead call it a shallot sauce.   :D)

I began my evening by rewatching GONE BABY GONE and listening to the audio commentary. A little livelier than the commentary attached to the deleted scenes, but it's more anecdotal about the people in the shots rather than giving intensive background information on filming the movie, how he got chosen to direct, etc.

Next, I decided to go ahead and get a head start on FMAILY TIES. I put in disc one in the set (out of four discs), and watched all six episodes on the disc.

I never watched this show when it was on the air, so the puny quality of the writing surprised me. Every character calls another character by name almost every time they address them. The plots are pretty spare. Good cast; everyone works hard and does well with what they have, but I'd be surprised if the writing won any Emmys. I'll check later.

When I finished the first disc of FAMILY TIES, I channel surfed and saw the 2005 movie version of THE PRODUCERS was playing on one of the HBO channels. I flipped over and what do you know! "Springtime for Hitler" was just beginning so I watched that entire sequence.

Of course, I mainly watched because of John Barrowman who sings the lead chorus of the song. I believe he must have been wearing blue contacts over his blue eyes, because his eyes were bluer than blue in that number. So bright blue they looked unreal.

The movie is pretty much a bust, but that entire number probably works better than anything else in the picture (since it's stage bound, that's where Susan Strohman would feel more at home.)

That's where I do 95% of my shopping. A little more expensive than other places. Very clean, excellent selection.

PSYCH was OK tonight. Certainly there were planety of laughs, but the mystery didn't quite engage me since there was so much distraction with both Gus and Shawn's dad.
