This was the page dance I would have done the last time it was my turn!

For awhile (a few years ago--meaning 10 years ago probably) we had a few tapas bars that featured flamenco dancers on the bar (some of the dancers were quite professional and attractive), but I found that it made me often drop my fork or glass.

BLACKBERRY SERVICE OUT IN NORTH AMERICA; AT&T SAYS ALL CARRIERS AFFECTED

NEW YORK  —  An outage has disconnected BlackBerry smart phones across North America.

AT&T Inc. says the disruption Monday is affecting all wireless carriers. AT&T first learned about the problem at about 3:30 p.m. EST.

There's no word on the cause or when the problem might be fixed.

This should keep the trend-setters quiet for a while

It is now my Next-Best-Thing-To-Coma time.  Many thanks to Mr. Bruce, MBarnum, Adriana & Cason for a fabulous evening.

So!  It appears that Mr. Murphy can arrive for dinner engagements and personal appearances; but he is apparently toooooo busy to post at HHW!

Good Afternoon!

Greetings from Memphis International Airport!

The airport shuttle left my hotel at 4:32.

I was through security at 4:45!

Now that's (ridiculously) fast!  -Of course, it helps that the airport is so close to the hotel - and vice versa - and that the airport is ridiculously slow right now.  I've even had time to stop at the Corky's BBQ counter for a sandwich, and I even picked up some of of Dinstuhl's Cashew Crunch, and Interstate BBQ's pulled pork and sauce to take back with me to NYC.

:)

In other news...

WHEW!  The past three days of playing auditions really caught up with me today during my lunch break.  We only had three very small groups after lunch, but they seemed to take a bit longer than usual.  I even ended up staying a little after I was released to play for two young women who had flight issues - they made it back right in time for the last group.  *Thankfully, they both sang well.  ;)

I just cannot feel any sympathy for Flay; sorry, but how this man ever managed to wrangle his way into the company of Batali et al defies my understanding. I'd rather watch Emeril, and I can't *stand* Emeril...

Well, Flay has always been the "uber-macho" representative of the Food Network.  He used to grate on my nerves - his live studio show - and his co-host(!) - were just too too at times.  However, I like "Throwdown".  And I especially like how he "trains" at local NYC establishments.  Good "hometown" publicity.

And speaking of tapas... Again...

There's a great sliver of a place in Chelsea that opened recently, El Quinto Pino.  It's set up like a "traditional" tapas bar - no seating.  Well, there are bar stools, but no sit-down tables.  It is primarily a bar, but they have a small selection of tapas - all quite good.  -However, they've become famous for their cross-culture creation: uni (sea urchin roe) panini(!!!).

Well, how about a nice sit-down joint with a Tapas Menu?

Valentine's Day is like herpes: just when you think its gone for good, it rears its ugly head once more. No wonder some people prefer to call it VD.

http://vd.meish.org/

Actually MRSA is very much like herpes.  There are certain things you are not supposed to do while you are having an outbreak.

Yes, DR Jeanne - it is surprisingly difficult to find a quiet restaurant where you can just talk.

Or see!  I've been to too many restaurants (and not even super fancy restaurants) where they turn the lights down so low, you can barely see what you're eating. :P
