We're supposed to get some flurries here this afternoon.  If so, I may go ahead and try to take a few pics.  We shall see.

Otherwise, the only thing on my schedule for today is the CD and DVD release event at the Barnes & Noble at Lincoln Square for the new/previously-unreleased Nancy Lamott recordings.  My friend, Phil, is in charge of organizing the event, and the line-up of "stars" is pretty cool.

DR elmore - Do you want to go? I'm sure you'll run into a bunch of old friends there.  -And maybe even some enemies.  ;)  -I'll even spring for dinner before or afterwards.

...And I'm trying to figure out if I think having Kathie Lee Gifford sign my Nancy Lamott materials is really "right"?

Thanks, Jane.  I always feel like kind of a wimp when I do this, but we're supposed to have freezing rain all day.  Snow's one thing, ice is another all together.

I've driven enough in those conditions to know how dangerous & scary they can be, you aren't a wimp in my opinion.  If you don't have to go out why do so.  Hey, the fewer cars on the road the better it is.

My fingers are frozen; I've just re-shoveled and re-salted our driveways - you can actually see our black asphalt now.  The roads are another story, however. . . .all over the Pittsburgh area, it's a major mess.

Well, my, my, look what the cow (or was it a Chooster?) dragged in --- the E and T prodigal son (like mother, like son)...

First Cason, now Miss Karen  :D.

I'm sorry I have to go.  My book discussion group is meeting this morning.  We read "Gentlemen and Players" by Joanne Harris.  I'm interested in what others have to say about it.  There is a mystery to the story, and well my problem with most mysteries is I tend to get them.  The more way out the mystery, oddly the less I enjoy it.  I'm reading, figure it out fairly early, and think "I can't be right!" through the rest of the book.  It sort of distracts me from the journey.

Possible spoiler:

I came up with various scenarios of how I could be right.  At least it was the logical one, not one of the silly possibilities.

Yeah, ain't it somethin'?! The stars must be aligned just right -- or Uranus must be retrograding or bumping into something (we need to ask Jrand what's happening in the universe to cause this phenomenon) ...

DR Jane, I just finished a mystery which you book group may be interested in:

I'd never heard of the author until Stephen King recommended this novel on one of his backpage essays in Entertainment Weekly.
The novel is set primarily at a country estate in England during WWI, but moves through time swiftly - starting with a present-day prologue - to startling conclusions.
I say conclusions, because just when you think you have the central murder mystery solved, another piece of the puzzle surfaces, leading to mystery upon mystery.
I think that the last novel I read of this caliber in the mystery genre was Wilkie Collins' THE WOMAN IN WHITE.

Ohh! Uranus is acting up!  DR Karen talks of "a whiter shade of PALE" while I mention a novel entitled "In PALE Batallions."

Eerie!

However, I have to ask - Is "Heir" a common name in your family?

;)

No, although, "Herr" would've been a common enough title on the paternal line.

We are dairy cows, Holsteins, Jerseys, Guernseys & Ayrshires.
We stole Molly the milkmaid's laptop while she was having a roll in the hay with the vet's assistant, a strapping young lad named Peter. Now we attempt to connect to the internet via Farmer B's wifi, but the signal strength in the barn is inconsistent.
This is a picture of moost of us (some were camera shy). But as you can see, we are are happy cows.

Hello, everyone.

My day started with a phone call regarding some business stuff while I was still in bed. Ugh! (Sounds like BK's life, doesn't it?) I was really hoping for a nice, leisurely day. Oh, well. I voted, I ran errands. Soon I shall run more errands and grab some lunch, then do more business stuff.

Will try to check back later and maybe even catch up with the posts. (WTTCBLAMECUWTP)

Ah, I see we have a new DR--the bovine kind (plural).

Let's see if we can guess who it is, based on their writing style and sense of humor, shall we?
