Now, I have the den to clean, and I have some new equipment in the home theater I need to fiddle with. Then, a quick check of the mail, and beginning of lunch preparation.

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And I'm realizing just how comfortable that king size bed was in my hotel room in Memphis.  Jojo needs to do a bit of stretching this morning.

I loved the scene in GWTW where Miss Scarlett took her mother's Poitier and made a dress!

And as DR elmore mentioned, it is a rainy, sleety, gray day here in NYC.  A good day for staying in... maybe do some baking... clear some stuff off the DVR... etc., etc., etc...  :)

Actually, I think what done the Romans in was the influx of Britannic and Germanic phrases.  True Romans didn't want the language bastardized, but the "new" Romans became so plentiful that the true Romans were unable to vocalize their needs (loath as they were to use the assimilated homonyms, antonyms and whatnot) and the language simply died with them.

I know that Latin is a fully functional language, but somehow I just can't get past the mental image of people lounging around in togas, exchanging one-liner bon mots!  :)

DR Ben - Hmm... Thanks for the head up on "What's Up Doc?" tomorrow night at Chelsea Clearview Cinemas ("Where Dreams Come True"). A friend of mine is in town for a few days, and that might be just the perfect - and cheap - way to spend V-Day.  *And I'm sure the crowd will be just as entertaining as the movie. ;)

What else was there for them TO do?  After all, a day's repast, apart from figs and wine, was such esoterica as peacock's eyeballs, rotted meats and frequent visits to the vomitorium.

Surely that's worthy of a bon mot or three.

Yes, there is a moral crisis.  All these super-highly paid athletes making their fame and fortune from the benefits of performance-enhancing DRUGS must PAY for their misdeeds and lack of "sportsmanship".
