Some helpful Latin curses for Ginny or Ronnie P to use at work:

Utinam barbari spatium proprium tuum invadant!
(May barbarians invade your personal space!)

Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant!
(May faulty logic undermine your entire philosophy!)  I may have to use that one the next time der B and I get into a political discussion...

Utinam modo subiunctivo semper male utaris!
(May you always misuse the subjunctive!)

Hmm... Just checking the ever-changing weather forecast.  IIRC, they were saying it would be in the low-50s tomorrow and sunny. Now they are saying it will be in the mid-30s and might get sunny.  Hmm...

I have shipped a big package, I have bought some toiletries, I have visited the Gap (buying some clothes for the first time in over two years), I have done some other errands, and now I am home, but thinking about lunch, since I won't be eating again (must lose ten to twenty pounds in the next three months).

In the HWW Dictionary: Chincy BASTA -- Latin for Chincy Bassa -- Latin Plural: Chincy BASTUS

And speaking of Latin, there are also:

Carpe Diem:  seize the day

Carpe Nactum:  seize the night (from Jim Steinman and Michael Kunze's Tanz Der Vampire)

Carpe Scrotum:  well...you know. ;)

Actually, the middle one is Carpe noctem, and if this is how it  stands in the Vampire Dance, shame on them for their lousy scholarship and poor Latin grammar!

And I'm sure Some appreciates the clothes, since it gets quite nippy at this time of year.

I should get going... I'm pulling the late shift at work, red shirting it until next to closing.

It's because witnesses in a Roman trial were sworn in as they held their piece.

DR elmore, where did you end up placing your bed, in the same location as the previous bed?

Conversely, "Caesar and Cleopatra" was on TCM yesterday evening.

YAW-W-W-W-N!

And what a cast!

Yeah...I watched "Caesar & Cleopatra too and quite enjoyed it.  I like Shavian wit myself.

I also watched A THOUSAND CLOWNS which was fun despite the compulsion that had to open the play up with lots of silly-ass 60's montage-ish sequences of bike-riding and running through New York Streets.  When they stuck with the apartment and the play, it was fun.

I stuck with TCM all night...watching half of THE RED SHOES before I packed it in and went to bed.  I've seen it several times before.  Anton Walbrook is really good.

The flowering pear trees are in bloom all over the city.   It's about 2 weeks later than normal because of a cold snap we had, but they are quite lovely to see.  Perhaps DRLaura will see one and post a picture.

The rain stopped late this morning, but the overcast skies have never left us. Maybe it's going to rain some more tonight. We're still in pretty dire need of it.

I watched two ODD COUPLE episodes while I cooked and ate lunch. The first had Felix's daughter going out with a guy who was in a reform school, but who Oscar had taken under his wing.
