Glad DR Laura found her camera. Whew! A day without her pictures is like a day without sunshine.

Last night, we were leaving a restaurant and there was a wallet, cigarette lighter and camera on the steps outside of the restaurant. The owners looked at the license and said it belonged to a woman who had just left. How do you lose all that stuff out of your purse and not hear it??

We have been at the Grandparents having dinner, but I don't think I'm blind--the page, as TCB noted, was in "Academy ratio" on both our computers, so not quite sure what's going on for you, Jose.

Thank you for the vibes, Singdaw.  I have repeated your hilarious comment from the other day about no one being able to tell if I hit a wrong note, and most have agreed.  :)  Although I have to say, after having played this piece nonstop for hours today, I have various motives (especially the rising fourth, followed by a falling a half step down) seared on my brain.

I'm defaulting to playing minor sevenths if I lose my place in the music.  ;)

Have any of you played the card game Casino?  My in-laws attempted to teach it to me tonight.  Oy.

If you want to play through some more ear-friendly Hindemith, I'd suggest reading through the Piano Sonatas.

Oy - the day is almost over.  Just a lot of couch sitting (like so much fish) to finish the day.  Oh, and a skinny cow or 4.

Today was great fun, sprinkled with moments of frustration and stress.  Church was fine, which is always good.  Still having trouble grasping the fact that Easter is only a month away.  I know, I know, get over it and get going!

This afternoon was the run-through with some set pieces, some sound, and orchestra for Seussical - The Musical It's a middle school show, but we perform at the local performing arts center, which is located on the High School campus which is one of the High School's this school feeds in to.  (figure THAT out)  So, our run was in the school's gym.  Act One went well, Act Two - not so well.  It will all come together this week, but they sound great, and the orchestra ROCKS.

So, it's been a day.

...And I still remember reading about how Walter Gieseking learned and memorized one of the piano sonatas for a recital while he was on a train.  There was no piano on board, he just read and air-played the notes while he was travelling... Then played it in recital once he reached his destination.  WOW!

Thanks for the SUNDAY/GEORGE articles DR JOSE.  It will certainly be interesting to see what he does with the material.

A right-headed director can certainly enhance wonderful and great material....but there is NO material no matter how wonderful that can survive a wrong-headed and bone-headed director.

Yes, I agree--I did some of those, as well as the Kammermusik, back in my starry-eyed youth.  :)

Hindemith makes my teeth hurt.

Maybe I will watch The Soup on E! and then watch Miss Jessica Lange in her Frances Farmer movie - Frances The Talking Mule.

Thankfully I don't need to memorize this piece, but I actually have spent quite a bit of time on the "air playing" on this one just to "grok" some of the clef changes, etc.  At MM=100 (the score marking) it's actually pretty playable, I'm just worried the horn player is going to want to zoom, zoom, zoom.

DR BEN - I couldn't watch Mr Imperium all the way through.  Lana Turner is so pretty and Ezio Pinza is just plain homely....and the camera makes him look much much older and fatter than he probably was.  But he is convinced that he is the handsomest man on the screen.....I wonder if he thought differently after he saw the film?

I saw this production a few weeks during it's first weekend of previews, and loved it.

Well, that's an easy one to solve: Hindemith was pretty strict in regards to his metronome markings.  If he's rushing and/or just wishing to take a faster tempo just remind him that by doing that he is not honoring the composer's "wishes". ;)

I almost cooked hamburgers for dinner, but maybe my meat would have burned like DR TCB's    :o

Must be in the air.  The DP made LEAN burgers tonight which we ate on fat free tortillas and fat-free cheese's, with lettuce, ketchup and mustard, and he made some oven fries, which were mighty tasty.  Everything was yummy and pretty much healthy!

DR Matt - Is Neil Gaiman involved with any of the special features on BEOWULF?

Surprisingly no. Avery does all the talking about the script if I'm remembering correctly.

DR TCB -

Can't wait:  NCIS, Numb3rs, The Closer, Women's Murder Club (is that one coming back?)

It is definitely not coming back this season. There is no word yet of cancellation or renewal for next season. I'm keeping my fingers crossed because I love Angie Harmon and Rob Estes.

And as for Better Midler's upcoming Vegas spectacular...

The following post is for all DRs EXCEPT DR elmore3003  ;):

Check your local schedules and set your DVRs.  PBS in the NYC area is broadcasting the recent Broadway revival of Company on Wednesday evening.

Some who have seen clips are saying that it's a great info-mercial for the hardwood floor.    :-\

Thanks for posting this!  I didn't realize that it was going to be on so soon!  I set my DVR to record this. :)

But it won't be the musical.  Thankfully.  ;)

Except Jessica will be doing some singing. She talked about it in a interview in the newspaper this morning.

Neither - they've just been on my "reminder" calendar for a while, and thought other DRs might be interested.  :)

Thanks for the updates, just giving you some grief
