If only we had known, before a small fortune was spent on school applications. ;DJust keep in mind, a set of chef's knives does not make someone into a great chef.

Ok, then I guess he will continue with his original plan to attend medical school ;)

I have just listened to a wonderful train wreck:  Sutton Foster and Marc Kudish, on BROADWAY UNPLUGGED VOLUME 2, trying to sing "Anything You Can Do," and flubbing lyrics, improvising and being totally hilarious.

I still can't figure out the two television shows that DR JMK was talking about yesterday....hmmmmmmmmmmm

Off to work.

There was another Alfred Hitchcock Presents that I remember I watched while staying at my Aun't house when I was quite young (under 50).  From then on, I always associated that scary TV episode with that house.  In the episode this guy was bet that he couldn't survive the night in this attic room with only a candle and three matches....  Sound familiar to anyone?

TOD: Once we were driving on the I-17 in Phoenix. We were at a dead stop, then inched forward. For about 45 minutes. We finally got to the obstruction: a coat. Yes, there was a coat in the road. After that, we sped up to 65 mph.

Almost as bad as finding a fork in the road!

That's he in the flesh!

He has been in some big films (TERMINATOR, ALIENS), but sad to say he never had the star career I would have envisioned for him.

I felt the same way about actor Hunt Block.

Ah, yes.  I've been to many programs in the Havighurst room.  Are they going to have a big unveiling reception for you?

I have no idea! I really don't care for one.

I've been watching THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY; I forgot the Beaver was in the cast.  I love Mildred Natwick.  I got to know her briefly before she died.

Hmmm... They're showing coverage of the police raid that's still currently going on here in NYC's Chinatown - they've raided a whole slew of stores for selling counterfeit goods.  I just have to wonder: Why now? What took them so long? and Will it really do any good?  I mean, most of those vendors down on Canal never truly claim to be selling the "real thing".  ???

Do they sell any Rollex watches (with the two Ls)?  I have always wanted to find one of those.  I looked all over Hong Kong and all I found were real Rolex's with real Rolex prices.

It looks like Lupone's Gypsy may get recorded.

We'll have to pre-order a copy for DR Tomovoz.   ;)

I also don't care for Ms LuPone.  However, I would go see her in GYPSY.  I think the role is perfect for her.

He was so cute back then, and a natural actor.

I came back from a nice dinner with my friend Val to find a nice email from Mr Jason Graae.  I also had a nice phone call about getting together with Tom Jones' wife Janet and the great Pamela Myers.

Who?

Given the length of Pennsylvania, they're probably on a truck somewhere between here and Oxford.  Tomorrow I'll track them again.

The ephemera, books, scores, scripts, etc., ands eventally posters, photos, whatever, will be going into this special collection:

And quite an attrractive photo of elmore, as well.

Had a very full evening of viewing.

I began by finishing NOTES FROM A SCANDAL. Excellent performances, held my interest throughout. Glad I saw it.

But I DO NOT and will NEVER understand teachers attracted to students. It happened at the school where I taught, too, and the whole idea just infuriates and sickens me.

Next, I put on the "final cut" of BLADE RUNNER on Blu-ray. It is different from the director's cut which I've had on laserdisc for a long time. The thing I noticed was how much new footage they've added to the front of the movie. Rutger Hauer used to kiss and then murder his creator before the first hour was over. In this final cut of the film, it's now almost 85 minutes into the movie before that happens. I still have about 20 minutes to go in it.

Next, I watched tonight's NCIS. It's from this season and I hadn't seen it, so I enjoyed seeing what was to me a new episode.

Next I watched AMERICAN IDOL in about 40 minutes (it was a 90 minute broadcast tonight) by recording it and then excising all commercials, filler, etc.

A little better show than last week though I still think it's a weak men's field overall. I did like David Hernandez's song tonight and the other David who sang the John Lennon song to close the show tonight. Apart from those two, any of the men could be sent home, and I wouldn't care.

I flipped channels until the next show I wanted to watch came on. Looks like a lean week on premium paycable. I didn't see a single movie I was interested in recording.

And I will be glad when TCM's 31 Days of Oscar is over. Yes, they show a lot of great movies, but they're all the classics. I like TCM best for the movies that aren't so award-winning and well known, and those get pushed aside during their Oscar-tribute month.

After all this Hitchcock talk, I rented MARNIE and watched it tonight. I thought Louise Latham was wonderful.

I'm sure JJ will do fine, DerBrucer. He is handsome and friendly. He should go pretty fast. You did a good thing rescuing him. I hope he gets a home with a school-age child. :)
