True Jeanne.  I also understand the restlessness to move elsewhere.  I'm often in shock we have lived here 9 years & 8 months, longer than anywhere else.

DR JEANNE - maybe Nugey and Susanna can help you!

Marvelous Matt was here earlier today, repairing the damage from the wind storm a few weeks ago. He also repaired the dishwasher and did a few other little things. He is such a gem! I wish I could take him with me.

Yes, maybe so. You know, I'd love to have the house my aunt and uncle (yes, THAT uncle) lived in on Motor Ave. Waayyy out of my price range, I'm sure. I have many fond memories of times in that house. Perhaps Susanna's ghost is there.

Well I got some DVD's in the mail today, and like DR MBARNUM I am watching a movie.

I have read about this movie and heard about it, and now I have seen it.

ATLAS made in 1961 by Roger Corman in Greece, Europe, starring Michael Forest as the titular hero and Barboura Morris as a Greek tootsie.  And Frank Woolf as The Evil Praximates.

Dialog by Charles Griffith - writer of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS....with some priceless dialog that I will long remember:

Praximates:  Don't toy with me, wrestler.  I can have your entrails on the sand with a snap of my fingers.

Atlas:  Well then, start snapping!

+++++++++

Praximates:  Where IS everybody?

Gallus:  Did you just run in from Marathon?

Praximates:  Very funny.  Very funny.  Take your funny jokes elsewhere.

+++++++++

Gallus:  I don't think there's a Thenian prisoner who will do as you say.

Praximates:  Behold, the Oracle of Delphi speaks.  Where are the guards?

Guard:  Did you want me?

Praximates:  No, I wanted your Aunt Helen from Lesbos.

+++++++++

Thenian Rebel:  Praximates will never attack the entrance.  If he does it will be another Thermopolye.  And he isn't that stupid.

Atlas:  I'M not so sure.

+++++++

And the battle scenes keep reminding me of the Monty Python sketches that had a couple of ladies' groups re-enacting the Battle of Britain.

In other words.....HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

Then I am sure its current occupants are well organized!! ;D

Yes. I wonder if they feel a bit seasick now and then, too.

Had an interesting evening of viewing. I began by finishing the GREY'S ANATOMY episode I had started earlier in the day. Always very moving when Izzy listens to the telephone message Denny left on his parents' answering machine about her.

Next I watched JONATHAN LIVINGSTON SEAGULL. Argh! What a bore! And in this age of PLANET EARTH on HD, even the photography was merely adequate (though Oscar nominated).

I guess in the age of FLower Power and Free Love, the message is fairly benign, but it really didn't grab me in any way. Did this movie make any money at all? It cost $1.6 million to produce (not much money for 1973). I don't remember it being anything resembling a hit back then.

I guess the Neil Diamond soundtrack made money (and won Grammys).

Next, I took down ELIZABETH I (with Helen Mirren) and watched the first 80 minutes or so of Part I. I'll finish it tomorrow while I'm cooking and eating lunch.

After I finish Part I of ELIZABETH I tomorrow, I have two films on the docket: SEANCE ON A WET AFTERNOON and THE LOVE PARADE (courtesy of DR JMK).

JRand,  I also have ATLAS sitting around here someplace, waiting to be viewed...now I really must see it!

And I interviewed Atlas himself, Michael Forest...although I have yet to transcibe the interview. No doubt he is wondering what ever became of that 2 hour conversation.

I was going to watch a Bollywood movie tonight, but instead I think I will watch the 1960s version of TOWER OF LONDON...and then after that, who knows!

Believe you me.....you could not resist if you were watching this epic.

Cardia: (Greek temple harlot and mistress of Praximates as Atlas walks by)  I wonder who's holding up the world?  ;D

Well...that's the kind way to put it.

I bet all of us can use that in conversation in the next couple of days!  ;D
