You of all people should have figured that one out a long time ago.   ;D

Hey, I heard a great CD last night on our local jazz station you'd love, Mike.  It's a jazz thing by a guy named Matt Geraghty, but his vocalist is Indian, and they do some Bollywood stuff, jazz-style.  The CD is called "Passport."  It's not up on his site yet, but is talked about on his bio:

I have an idea what Fig refers to, but don't know the story behind it.

I shall check out this CD!

It occurred to me after I posted that my local jazz station is also your local jazz station--KMHD.  ::)

HA!  I'm in the midst of sipping a cup of green tea.  Well... The past few mornings, I've been thinking that my green tea has tasted a little weak, mild, but I thought that was just due to the fact that I opened an older box that I've had in my cupboard for a while.  I just took a few sips of my current cup, and said to myself - Now this is green tea!  -Then I went to my impromptu tea tin, and realized that I had been pulling out bags of chamomile tea the past few days.  -I wonder if that's why I've been so calm, cool and collective lately?  ;)

I always age my green tea a bit before I drink them.

Ben, thank you.  I'll ask her to have a look at it?  Do you by any chance know anyone who has stayed there?

-Vincent

No, I don't know anyone who has stayed there. Years and years ago someone who worked at my office lived there for a couple of months. She said it was clean, safe, and very, very, very secure. It's run by the Salvation Army after all and there are no, I repeat, no men allowed past the lobby. It seems like a set up for Bosom Buddies.

And since today is men, and since you'll have Internet access...

Can we beg for pictures?

:)

You can beg... On your hands and knees.  You can wear your own collar if you like.

However... There was one not-so-young gentleman who caught all of our eyes today - we just hadn't seen him before here in NYC.  -And it turned out he's just in town from Los Angeles for the week.  And judging from the info on his card, I believe he's a neighbor of our own esteemed, BK - or at least lives in the same zip code.  Alas, I was not able to get a picture.  However, his 8x10... ;)

Re: Traffic in L.A.

What happened to those who spend their day working in one building from 9 to 5?

Those days are long gone:

A. Most Medical establishments work 7-3, 3-11, 11-7
B. Many places work 10 hour shifts
C. Large companies with a mix of engineering and manufacturing (the entire aero-space industry) have their entire work force staggered to avoid parking lot pile-ups.
D. The major retail centers also have employees coming and going at all sorts of hours.

And don't underestimate the number of out-of-state drivers just passing through on their way to other West Coast destinations.

I would like to think that An Ongoing Litany of Bilious Spite can somehow, someway become a running gag.

Oh, it has been going on, at intervals, for some time.

I don't think you're pretentious; precious, maybe.

I don't think he's pretentious, either....

I thought the remark about Kelly being pretentious a bit pretentious and said so, but I know he's a decent, honest person, too.

I take it then from your post, DR JoseSPiano, that the people of your side of the table see a lot of the same people at these auditions, year in and year out?  Someone from out of town, or a fresh face, really stands out? I wonder how long that advantage lasts?!
