Yes, the one that's packaged with the not so hot Pajama Game revival recording.  It's just Connick and Kelli O'Hara on the CD.  I stuck it out to the end, but boy is it unmemorable.

Neither is the OBC

As for last night's "American Idol"...  And I ain't postin' no stinkin' spoiler space...

Ms. Malubay needs to go home.  However, I have a feeling that she'll be hanging on for at least one more week.  I have a sense that all the various Phil-Am Associations have set up "calling parties".  ;)  ???  ::)

Well, I guess it is up to me to start respecting the Asians around here...!

You can send Ms. Malubay home when you pry her from my cold, dead hands!!! (Yeah, I know she's not the greatest singer, but she's still half the reason I'm tuning in to that show.) I say, send home cute but talentless David Archuleta.

IT'S ASK BK DAY!

Question:

Now that I'm filling my IPod, what are the 10 Essential Bruce Kimmel-produced cds to put in it?

What piece of music should no IPod be without?

Even DRs may pipe in with their opinions - are you listening DR Ron Pulliam?

Oh, DR MBarnum, I have a few Bollywood soundtracks entered, my favorite is KUCH NAA KAHO.

Number one is hard, but I should think Lost In Boston (the Ultimate Collection), Unsung Musicals (the Ultimate Collection), Haines His Way, A Broadway Love Story, Peter Pan, Unsung Sondheim, Liz Callaway: On and Off Broadway, The Stephen Sondheim Album, either of the Emily Skinner/Alice Ripley duets albums, and Unsung Irving Berlin (one disc edition).  Ten minutes from now the list would be different, however.

I'd say no iPod should be without the Bill Evans with Symphony Orchestra CD.

I've played the synthesizer part of Little Shop of Horrors twice to date.  The part calls for 3 keyboards (synth, electric piano, organ) stacked.  The last two times, I was able to make do with 2 yamaha DX7 keyboards and it worked nicely.  The sounds on those keyboards were "old' enough to get the effects we needed, etc etc.

For this run, (number 3 for me), I'm using a new keyboard and have been working on programming the settings etc for the past two nights.  It's a more sophisticated keyboard then the DX7 and the sounds are more refined.  But OH HOW I MISS the old DX7!!!!  It made life so much easier.  I'm toying with the idea of attempting to switch back to the old keyboards, we'll see after tonight.

What would be your recommended song to accompany a photo slide show post-funeral? Something not too sad but uplifting?

I've played the synthesizer part of Little Shop of Horrors twice to date.

WOW! That's quite an achievement. I love Little Shop of Horrors. I introduced by niece to the musical film when she was 5 and we haven't stopped watching it since. I mean, like, we have literally seen it about 60 times. I would LOVE to take her to see a stage version if one comes to Los Angeles. How do I get on a mailing list for that?

What songs were "lost in Boston" for this show? I know they cut a bunch of numbers for the movie (and, bizarrely, rewrote one), and it's a shame they lost the show's big punch line -- that Audrey winds up going somewhere that's green. But I'm one of the few guys on my block who actually owns the original version of the DVD, which contains the film's original ending! Bought it the day it was released, and I think it was recalled the second day.

I've watched it on bluegobo.com, but I don't own that version of the DVD.

Do you you prefer the original ending?

Beautiful stories, DR Edisaurus.

Here are a few suggestions:
"Listen to My Heart" [David Friedman, sung by Nancy LaMott]

No reflection on you Dear Sing but Listen to My Heart would make me break out in uncontrolled sobs. I love that song as sung by Miss LaMott but it's a weeper for me.

DR Ben - Oh, me too.

But if the family doesn't know who Nancy is or her background story, it might not affect them as much.

The DH and I are going to a wine tasting event tonight - at a local synagogue.

Do you think they'll be serving Manischewitz?   ;)

Thanks for sharing the stories DR EDISAURUS...and vibes to all, of course.

I choreographed a production of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS and did some musical staging for it as well......and played Middle Audrey while someone sang "Feed Me."

It is a very fun show to DO and to see.  The movie is okay, I like some of the performances....but I also like the ORIGINAL ORIGINAL b/w Corman film starring Jonathan Haze and Jackie Joseph.

I never hear anything useful when I am eavesdropping.  ;D

I like No One Is Alone, but any song on the Laurie Beechman album, No One Is Alone, would be appropriate.

I got a lovely envelope from DR MBARNUM in the mail today.  I watched Ms Suzanne Pleshette raging to live all over the place...a couple of scars on her chin that I had never noticed before were on view....and she had some BIG hair!

Some more episodes of THE GALE STORM SHOW, fun as always.

AND - RUNNING WILD, the movie debut of Mr John Saxon - but Mamie Van Doren thinks she is the star of the film, of course.

And of course she is the titular female lead.

My favorite line from the TV show WINGS (how's that for a set-up?) was "I couldn't help overhearing because I was eavesdropping."

The second question is for BK.

What, if anything, did you have to do with the 1994 CD release from Varese Sarabande of The Secret Garden?  The producer of note is Robert Sher and you're listed as the Executive Producer. I see that it was recorded in London and New York in 1986 but not released until 1994. I just picked it up at Academy for $4.99

I have this recording.  I actually like it.  It's different than the Simon/Norman version that was on Broadway, but it has its charms...in my humble opinion. :)

And of course she is the titular female lead.

With that rack, she'd be the titular head in most films.
