The usps, as ever, is no help.  Can't do online first class shipping.  So, I remembered at my other label we had a Pitney Bowes machine, so I called them and set up an account and now shipping will be a breeze.  The machine is free for two months, then a litte under twenty bucks a month, and it prints out exact postage plus, if you hook it to your computer and use the usps setup assistant, it will do delivery confirmation as well.  Doing that online saves about fifty cents from the delivery confirmation if you do that at the post office itself.  So, the machine will be here in five days, and we'll be good to go.  I'm having people come next week to do all the addressing of the boxes.  Of course, I have to GET the boxes first.

As hostess for the Dorothy Parker discussion tonight, I have to provide refreshments.  In keeping with the author, we're having:

Martinis (prepared by Bartender DH Richard)

Bar snacks:  mixed salted nuts from Dorothy Lane Market, pretzel sticks from Robert Rothschild (DP's birth name), and New York brand focaccia sticks in assorted flavors.

Dessert:  New York style cheesecake (OK, it's from Kroger, but you get the idea)

Yes, you seem to have a coterie of ardent admirers here.  I expect that if you leave a used napkin, or a partially eaten pork chop, when dining out that one of them will snatch it up and have it mounted or something.

I saw an episode of SOUTH PARK recently, which contained the following clip:

http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips/153940

I know I have seen this kind of thing in movies before, but I can't think of anything specific (re: Cartman's intervening of Kyle's confession). Is it a parody of something specific? One of you big movie fans would probably know.

BTW, I love the ominous musical underscore during Cartman's inexplicable appearance in Kyle's house in the middle of the night.

Yes, I'm certain a Bretty watermelon seed, spat upon the ground, would be scooped up, plated in gold or bronze, and displayed with fervent excitement by a few here.

Even David Archuleta, the kid every teeny-boppin' girl in the country is voting for?

Don't forget to add in the dirty old Gay men with our their lewd and lascivious looks aimed his way.

Is there any way in the world these contestants don't know their rankings? Surely Sysha, KLC, Jason and Brooke know right now that they won't be the winner. Or is that only obvious to me?

I would rather Syesha go than Carly, but I'm certain it will be one of those two.

I despised Jason Castro this week (I have most weeks; don't get him AT ALL), but the judges all raved about that pathetic rendition of "Over the Rainbow" so I suspect lemming-like voters will follow in lock-step and keep him safe.

This time a couple of years ago, Chris Daughtry was at the top of that list....and went home.

So...ya never knows!

I got in and immediately put on DEEP IN MY HEART. Picture and 5.0 Dolby Digital sound are both splendid. I always thought the laserdisc picture was one of the better laser masters, but this is much better, much cleaner and naturally sharper than the laserdisc.

I skimmed through AS THE WORLD TURNS, and Luke and Noah were on. Won't go into details, but Ameera's interest in Noah as a real husband is definitely going right along with my prediction. Next up will be the pregnancy.

Yes, I knew about SCRUBS going to ABC. They wanted it this season, but NBC decided to hang on. ABC produces the show, just like CBS/Paramount produces MEDIUM and said they were going to snap up MEDIUM if NBC had been stupid enough to let it go. In their wisdom, they renewed MEDIUM for another season.

Frankly, I think SCRUBS ran out of plot a season or so ago.

Jason has a dreamy insouciance that I expesct appeals to many viewers.

I also expect Carly's previous performances will keep her safe.

Is "insouciance: worth $10?
