Harriet Hoctor (she was double-jointed and could contort herself backwards on toepoint):

(click on her name above to see a youtube clip of her dancing in "Shall We Dance")

I saw Harriet Hoctor in a movie doing that back bend en pointe and it was painful to see.

I guess the adjective to apply to her would be supple.

I guess the adjective to apply to her would be supple.

She was in both "Shall We Dance" and "The Great Ziegfeld", but I think her most painful-looking appearance was in "Shall We Dance"....always looking as though she were rippling in the breeze, but always about to fall over backward ( :) ).

Good Afternoon!

I'm back from Jiffy Lube - My brother asked me take his car in for a long overdue oil change, and since he's letting me use his spare car while I'm here, I figured it was the least I could do.  Well, once I got to Jiffy Lube, I was swiftly informed that it had been over 19,000 miles since the last oil change.  Of course, they had some other "highly suggested" work that should be done, so I went ahead and called my brother so that he could talk and haggle with the "team leader".  He did opt for some of the extras, but decided to take care of some of the work himself - mainly replacing some of the filters (very easily done).  Thankfully, the extra work didn't take too long, and I was in and out of there in about 25 minutes. -And at least it got me out of the house this morning for a bit. ;)

-Then it was off to find where the nearest Whole Foods was since my brother's fridge is quite bare.  And after all the "birthday food" from yesterday, I need to eat a bit more healthy and fresher today.

I was hoping to find some of the pre-packaged, cook-at-home meals that I find in NYC, but since this Whole Foods is one of the new HUGE ones with all the food stations - this one even has separate Fish and BBQ/smoked meats(!) counters - they don't carry those meals.  However, I did pick up some sushi, salads, and some salmon for later.

In a press release about the upcoming Blu-Ray edition of How the West Was Won, it says:  "Exclusive to Blu-ray is the "SmileBox" version of the film which presents the image with a unique curvature that virtually recreates the true Cinerama® experience in a home theater."

I'd certainly like to see how that's going to work!
