I'm back from the lake and visiting my mother. We went to the Gingham Inn and had the best fried chicken in the world.  Then I saw DR Samantha.  She was with her DBF Chris and was looking very fine.  She said she thought it was so sweet that everyone here sent out birthday wishes even though she doesn't stop in often.

I almost had a new dog.  I was driving down a county road and there was a dog in the middle of the road.  I had to stop and the truck behind me stopped. We both honked and tried to get the attention of the farm we were near, but no one came out. The dog just stood in the road and wouldn't do anything, so I got out and he ran up and wanted me to pick him up. He was a jack russell terrier and very friendly.  I got in my car and drove into the farm lane. It took awhile, but finally someone came out. She said it wasn't their dog and she had never seen it before. She did mention the family down the road had a couple small dogs, but they didn't look like this one.

She also told me that this is a road where a lot of people just put dogs out and drive away.  She guessed that's what happened.  The dog was very very friendly, looked very healthy and well taken care of.  He had no collar, but I knew he was someone's pet.  I drove into town but couldn't even find a convenience store or anywhere to ask if anyone recognized the dog.  I was about 70 miles from Sioux City, so I didn't really want to bring him home where no owners would be looking for him.

So I went back to the other farm and drove into the lane.  It was a very well kept farm, with chickens, cattle and the two dogs in the front yard.  When I rolled my window down, the dog, who up until this time had to be on my lap and didn't want to be away from me, jumped out the window and ran over to the other two dogs.  They seemed to know each other or at least didn't act like he was a stranger.   I sat in the car a bit and the dog went over and sat in front of the garage door.  I honked the horn and tried to get someone's attention but didn't find anyone.  So, I left.  I'm not sure the dog lives there, but it's very near to where I found him, so if he is lost, his owners would probably look there and he seemed to know the place.

I still feel a bit funny about leaving him there, but in my gut I think it was the right thing. I got him out of the road. He acted like he was somewhere familiar and he's in a place where his owners could look for him and find him.

Back for but exactly one minute.  I ended up staying for the matinee - sold out - very good show - and I'll explain the reasons when I return.  I think I'll post the book list in the morning rather than this evening when I get home - unless people think they'd be looking at it tonight.

New television for DR DANISE and new Entertainment Center for DR DAKOTACELT and a new computer for DR JANE.

Wow!  Jackpot!!

All I have here today is a wind advisory until midnight.....gusts up to 50 mph.

I am watching the Frank Sinatra special on TCM.....but it's really the kind of "no audience" "canned laughter and applause" special that I don't enjoy as much as an onstage live audience performance....  I had the same problem with the two Doris Day specials that came out last year.  Lots of fun and great music, but very sterile and artificial in the long run.

I am too old to do that kind of traveling all in one day. Today has been a total waste. I don't look forward to having to do that again.

I don't remember the last time I heard anyone use that term, Coleslaw.  I think it may have been Rosalind Russell in HIS GIRL FRIDAY.

Good evening all.   I had a very nice 2 hour nap.  Then I went to McD's to get food for the dogs and myself.

I'm watching STAR WARS now.  I can't believe how nice the picture is even if this HD.  I'd almost forgotten how handsome Harrison Ford was back in the day.   :D

I'm happy to hear about DR Jane' s new computer.  I hope it works well for you!

DR Cilla, I hope your little doggie friend is home tonight.  You had a hard decision to make and I think you made a good one.

Thank you DR Cilla.  It is a fun thing to get & I'm using it right now.  It is funny, because until a few years ago I rarely used a computer, and before that hated using the computer.

I'm using it but there is loads Keith still needs to do to it.  I'm sure he will be up tomorrow morning long before I am and working on it.  It is already tons faster than my old laptop.

Thank you and yes they did.  Lowe's had a sign saying service dogs only.  We hesitate and a woman walking in said, "oh just go in & let them ask you to leave, that's what I do" ;D  She didn't have her dog with her but several other people had theirs.  He was extra friendly and happy to walk around the store with us.

We take him into stores all the time & find more often than not he is welcome.

I've did the same thing once, also with a Jack Russel.  I left a note on the door & received a call later all was well :).  The odds were the dog belonged to the house because the owner bred them.  My biggest concern was that I didn't know which kennel to put the dog in & didn't want to accidentally create a litter or two of pups.

DR. Elmoore

I posted a question for you last night. I am guessing you might have missed it.

Re: The link for The Persuasion.

The final dance music sound like the intro to How To Handle A Woman, but speeded up? Am I correct?

I found it hard to make out most of lyrics, but it was nice to finally hear them

It's a small airport with a limited number of flights in and out. The flights we took yesterday won't be available next time, so I guess we'll have to go in town a day before and leave a day after. That makes the commitment for the meeting last for three days.
