DR Panni,

Did you ever watch the Canadian quiz show Definition? Hardly in the Wheel of Fortune category, but I did make it on as a contestant, my celebrity partner being Leslie Nielsen. For everyone else, Canadian quiz shows are not known to be big spenders in the prize department, but in several rounds I won (a) a leisure suit, (b) a bed, and (c) $130. The game was like a simpler version of "Wheel" (and I think it was pre-Wheel). Some kind of riddle was asked, and teams competed in guessing the answer as more and more letters filled in the blanks.

1. This actress, even after achieving celebrity, enjoyed going back to the hood to play, yes, anagrams with her old girlfriends:

them real men

2. Some would say, especially after the past few months, that this director/actor has:

big lemons

3. Come up and see me some time, then:

Sorry to hear about Gabe.   He has not had the best of luck this last year or two.   All WILL be well.  Just remember that.

Gabe is home, half asleep, watching Lilo & Stitch with his little brother.  Thank you all for your messages--it's so nice to have you all thinking of us.

Re:  unlucky.  Actually, we consider ourselves incredibly blessed--Gabe has come through these two incidents relatively unscathed.  He did tell me today that his right arm (the uninjured one) has always been his "lucky arm."  Don't ask me where that came from!

Hmm, when I was about twelve I discovered which was my lucky arm, but that probably isn't what he meant.

I am glad to know that he is home and doing okay.

Micahel, may I keep the tape you sent, or would you like it returned?  (I WILL copy THE episode for Bruce).

BTW, my aunt and grandmother went to Los Angeles every summer to escape the heat.  One day they were stoppped at a red light and heard singing.  They loooked next to them to see Joi Lansing in a convertible singing merrily.   They saw her again with her parents at some other place.  Nice picture to have in your mind-- a breeze blowing and Joi Lansing in a convertible in the next lane.

Danise, Echo is well thank you.  After her romp she twisted her right foot, unfortunately she is prone to sprains.  With an aspirin & a days rest she was fine.  Yesterday was the first day, since my terrible cough, my muscles didn’t hurt too much for me to join my hiking group & we had a great time.  She was ecstatic.

JMK your Gabe story is cute.

DR JMK: More seriously, is Gabe's elbow to be trapped in the cast as well as his arm?  If so, the time to watch out is when the cast comes off!

I remember all too well when the cast was taken off of my broken (impacted) shoulder.  Not only had the cast extended down half of my torso, it also wrapped up my arm, with a bend at the elbow and a cross-brace from about chest-level up to my elbow, keeping it stuck out even with my shoulder.

Not only was this arrangement hell to sleep in, there were real problems when the cast came off.  The muscles had atrophied enough that even lowering my arm a fraction of an inch hurt more than when the break took place.  Thankfully, I was recouperating at my parent's home, so Dad was able to help me through the worst of it.  We ended up using the cast as a brace while the arm was slowly lowered back down to normal.  We've got a pic of me around somewhere; I'll have to get der Brucer to scan it and post.

Again, mucho vibes of goodness being sent to Gabe from our house.

Happy, Happy Biithday, Panni! May you always March Forth! It is also my nephew's 21st b'day today.

How lovely to be back in a Motel which has something to connect my computer to! Incommunicado is no fun! So, I'm in Albuquerque (did you know how to spell it before I just wrote it?), having spent last night in Oklahoma City, and the night before in Memphis. Oy, and no phone connection since i crossed the Mississippi River early yesterday.

Anyway, hello to all my pals here at haineshisway. kisses. Back in LA probably by Saturday night. bye, penny

I hesitate to mention the anagram I discovered for my name the last time this subject came up here, but here 'tis...
