For some reason, I never believed Frank really wanted to see Salome dance!

He was pretending it was a production of Wilde's "Salome".

DR JRand asked: "In a couple of movies I notice they have Wardrobe Direction Charles LeMaire and Costumes by Travilla.  What is the difference?  And Peyton Place credits Adele Palmer for costumes, but in the commentary Terry Moore says that Charles LeMaire did her dresses.  Of course it doesn't matter now because most everything is purchased rather than built for films, but what's the deal?"

During the studio system days, the major studios had a head of the wardrobe department. Edith Head functioned as the head of Paramount for many years. Adrian, then Irene, then Helen Rose functioned as MGM's wardrove head. At Fox, Charles LeMaire was their wardrobe head. Some of the designers had their hands in every production and got credit on every one (read Edith Head). Others were more supervisory in nature and often other staff designers (like Travilla or Walter Plunkett) or freelancers (Irene Sharaff) were used for the primary wardrobe. In some cases, the head designer would design for a star and then someone else would do the rest of the clothes. Sounds like that's why both LeMaire and Travilla got credit on the film.

I always wondered what became of LeMaire; he began on Broadway and did costumes for THE NEW MOON and DEAREST ENEMY, as I recall.

SWW - I don't know Lullabye from CHESS. I hope it doesn't meant I put you to sleep! :-\

Jane, I'm glad HEALING DREAMS helped. I saw the author the other day and will probably see him once more before he leaves town. Will pass on to him that the book "worked" for you.

Dan-the-Man - I actually was never sung that particular song (thank goodness) - but I got "Anna-Banana" - minus the music - a LOT.

The dream that I had most frequently, but haven't had in years, involved the Bad Men (a BENJAMIN KRITZER reference!) chasing me. My Bad Men, unlike Benjamin's, were Russians in tanks.
Number Two on the Hit Parade of dreams  is the ever-popular I'm starring in a play, but don't know the lines or blocking. I still get that one from time to time.

Cute snake, DR Laura. Hope you beat it with a stick. (Joke!)

As I said last night, I'm guessing the bottom three tonight will be John, Jasmine, and LaToya.

Sorry I must have missed where you wrote that.

I think John will be bottom 3.  But I would be surprised if LaToya was.  Simon basically said last night that she was the best singer.  And I think the public generally listens when he says someone is good.

Re:  dreams.  I had a recurring one when I was about 8 and we were moving into a new house.  For a couple of weeks before Christmas vacation, my parents kept me in my old school even though we were in our new house (they wanted to make an easy start-date at my new school, I guess).  So therefore my Mom would drive me to and from school everyday (I could walk from my old school to my old house).  My dream was that I would get out of my old school and no one was there to pick me up, so I would walk to my old house to see if my Mom was there, but she wasn't, so I would walk back to my old school to see if she was there yet, but she wasn't.  Can anyone say "abandonment issues"?  :)

This is scary--I just remembered that the dream would continue and I would walk the 20 or so miles (on a freeway) to our new house.  Yikes!!  I haven't thought about that for years.  Thanks a lot, everyone.  :)

A question for BK on this esteemed Wednesday in April.  I've been talking to my classes (3-8 grades) about song parody's (after we just got down talking about song "covers") and one third grader asked if someone - like Weird Al or someone like that - did a parody of a song, does that person need to purchase the rights to the song that he/she is doing the parody of.   You're the only person I could think of to ask this question.

Jennifer, go to the website which will not be named and notice their "notice," so to speak.  What goes around.....
I notice they're also selling a certain something.  Whether or not they're shipping is a different matter.

I suspect that they chose Barry Manilow because anyone important enough to have been parodied by our own BK is worthy of being on AI.

Just what you said: folder is full.

And no, I didn't need a zoom lens. They were right there in front of me.

In the Broadway version of Chess, the second act takes place in Budapest.  Florence, who was a child refugee, gets to meet a man who she is told is her father.  He sings to her a lullaby in Hungarian (and I appologize for not knowing how to accent properly):

Aludj kicsi lánykám
Hunyd be szmecskéd
Álmod édes szárnyán
Suhanj könnyedén
Apukád erös kezén.

Elaludt a párnád
Elalszik a fény
Suhanj kicsi lánykám
Álmod kek egén
Apukád erös kezén.

Játékaid árván
Várnak szerteszét
Egyetlen bogárkám
Aludj könnyedén
Apukád erös kezén.

This, and the song "Someone Else's Story," are the best reasons for having the Broadway cast recording.

It isn't telling us the folder is full any more.

He meant a zoom lens so they wouldn't bite you.  I guess if they were ignoring you it was safe, might be safe anyway.  Rattlesnakes, right?

IIGC (that's "If I'm Guessing Correctly" in Internet Lingo) Matt's predictions take into account how easily he can get through to vote for each contestant.

IIUC (that's "If I Understand Correctly" in Internet Lingo) Fox has increased their telephone call-in power and virtually everyone should be able to vote without getting busy signals any more.

All lines were easily accessible on the West Coast last night.

George, John and Diana or Jasmine.

I've put in an e-mail to Mr. Mark Bakalor about the photo thing.  We occasionally have to purge our backlog of photos.  Perhaps I'll go through and do some right now.

DR JANE any photo that I linked to HHW in My Pictures....I went in and deleted.  Which means now there is a red X in those posts from the past.

I would imagine that the writer of the original song would just get a performance royalty and record royalty as if the parodist had made a recording of the original.  I would imagine.

DR RLP...you are so funny.  HEY JMK....we know at least one place where Judy wore that pants suit, don't we?

I do.  :P  It could be that I'm going into the wrong place to begin with.  God I'm feeling dense today.  I went to my file & tried pulling up all my postings to find where I posted a photo.  This has got to be the long way.  Plus, they don't all come up.  I get an error page before that happens.
