Happy Birthday Sandra!

I love your existentialism joke :D :D :D

American Idol proves that "the people" are stupid and should not be trusted to make decisions EVER.

Favourite Disney Songs (some of these probably aren't Disney but are from other cartoon-making companies):

1) Out There
2) The Bells of Notre Dame
3) Belle/Gaston/Beauty and the Beast
4) Journey to the Past
5) Under the Sea
6) The Circke of Life

Does it show as much as I think it does that I am a member of the Eisner generation?  Sigh... so many classics to watch for the first time so little time...

You mean "9/30/55"???  Oh my God, that is a nightmare!

I remember seeing it on TV as 24 Hours of the Rebel. Awful! Richard Thomas gave up the Waltons for that dreck.

And see I didn't alter the quote to get a joke!

Some of my Disney favorites:

"I've Got No Strings" from Pinocchio
"Second Star to the Right" from Peter Pan
"The Bare Necessities" from The Jungle Book
"Zip-a-Dee-doo-dah" from Song of the South
"Belle" from Beauty and the Beast
"I'll Make a Man Out of You" from Mulan

Funny, I have the sudden desire to play a Michelle Nicastro CD...

Anyway, HAPPY NATAL ANNIVERSARY DAY to Sandra.

COPIES OF THIS POST ON NEAT-O PARCHMENT PAPER: $1.73/ea.

I'm a huge James Dean fan, and I saw the movie in the theater...big mistake.  And then, some guy I was dating gave me a copy of the movie on laserdisc.  I still have the disc, still in its' shrinkwrap, too.  Maybe I'll attempt to sell it on eBay...

Good morning.  First Mr. Gas Man knocked on my door at seven twenty-two so I could let him in the back to read the meter.  Then the singing bird decided to do its cabaret act this morning, and sang the entire score to both Wild Party musicals, and if you think you can sleep through that, think again.

Last night I dreamed I was at Manderley.

In my dream (which I probably dreamed because of all the dream posts) Blake Edwards called me and said we'd be meeting at the Bo-Kay Theater to see a really good double bill of two older movies.  I did some research and found out the Bo-Kay Theater was in Watts and I called Blake and told him.  Then I was suddenly at Blake's house chatting with him and Julie.  I told Julie I'd just seen her new movie.  She said she hadn't made a new movie.  Then it turned out that the double bill wasn't at the Bo-Kay it was at some theater in downtown LA, next to a Metrorail stop.  I suddenly was down there checking it out, but it still looked dangerous.  I peeked in and they were showing that Richard Thomas James Dean movie from the seventies.

That is what I remember.

Julie has two movies coming out. Shrek 2 and Princess Diaries 2. How soon they forget.

Blake has a new musical playing out in LA or nearby.

How many psychiatrists does it take to change a light bulb?

Only one, but the light bulb has to want to change.

Is that the oldest one there is or what?

Happy day, Sandra!!!

And now, to accompany her existentialist joke...

How many surrealists does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
Eggplant.

Thanks a lot, Jed, I just snorted out loud and embarrassed the heck out of myself.

WFO - I've heard the "Indian Love Call" story before, but never in reference to Julie.

Jane - Actually I saw it in a newspaper obit section, not on line.  I'm sure if you do a search you could find it.

Matt - I hope you realize that BK's audition song was more than just an "audition parody".  The characters and situations mentioned are all from A CHORUS LINE, my all-time favorite musical.

So how stupid and shallow have we gotten?  Here's the latest inanity in political correctness gone amuck.  ENO, the English National Opera, has now banned any new employees from calling each other "darling".  If you're old employees and you call each other darling, you can still go on doing so...but from now that old hitherto now inoffense English term of endearment  "darling" is considered sexually harrassing rhetoric.   This sort of policy doesn't potect "victims" in only encourages a cult of "victimhood".

In my day, if someone insulted you, you either told them to get off your case or insulted them right back.  We had balls and didn't let ourselves become victims over "words".  "Stick and stones" and all that.  "Words will never hurt me."  I'm tired of people trying to legislate good manners and common sense.  If people breach this sort of etiquette, let the culture and society punish them through the usual ostracization and marginalization, not the law.  People should be allowed to be rude, stupid, even improper or inappropriate if they want, without a horde of lawsuits and laws descending on them.  If someone's an asshole, just treat them like an asshole and don't get your knickers in a twist.  I think everyone knows the difference between real harrassment and just stupidity and rudeness.

Not fair! I wanted to list "Feed the Birds" but I limited myself to animated movies only. But, the movie does contain animation, and even the "Feed the Birds" sequence features animated birds.

Now, MattH, I listed Feed the Birds, but I labeled it as semi-animated.  You should know by now that if you follow all of the rules for the Topic of the Day, you will get left in the dust.

I was at Best Buy earlier today buying some DVDs for a friend's birthday, and I noticed in the bargain bin a twin pack of Laurel and Hardy-UTOPIA and FLYING DEUCES. I've never seen either of these late career L/H movies. Can someone who has offer up some opinions? Thanks.
