Sounds like a real Hammer horror film to me!  The tension is mounting--what will he find?  What WILL he find???

Psycho.  Update: Can't find it.  He's done.  He's one of the experts, so I don't know what good it would do to call someone else.  He's making a stronger solution for the deodorant spray.  Other than that, I'm going to have to tough it out, I guess.  Horrid.

He just sprayed the stronger deodorant, and it's a bit better.  I'll spray again about an hour before bed.  Also, I've turned the air off because I think it's making it worse instead of better.  I've got a window open in there

The Universal Monsters boxed set arrived today.  Cool packaging, great little statuettes.  And really inexpensive, too.

I'm gonna dive into them just as soon as the Significant Other finishes watching today's taped episode of All My Children.

Oy.
Is Erica part of the boxed set?

BK, what's the weather gonna be like for the rest of the week?  If it stays hot and dry (and the hotter the better, actually) the dead creature will quickly dry up and stop with the stinkin'.  If the weather is damp it will take longer.

bk- you need one of those dogs that sniff out people under buildings. I could bring over Wussburger (aka Abie) who has an excellent nose -- but the smell of rodent would scare him. He does not under the concept of dead rodent = harmless rodent.

Oy, vey!  Tonight is the first time I've ever watched American Idol and I don't know if this is just an off-night or what, but these people stink like a dead rodent!  How did any of these contestants get this far without the ability to sustain a note or stay on pitch?  Horrible!  It's like chewing on tin foil!

Update: Hammering has stopped and there is silence.  I'm hoping for the best, but I'm afraid to go in there to find out.  He's either found nothing and is patching up the holes, or he's found something and is trying to dig it out.

I had images of holes all over your walls.  I'm so relieved to know he is patching them up. :D

Maybe you're supposed to smear the deodorant on the dead rat's armpits for the stuff to work.

Funnily enough, "these" days, Simon Cowell would be telling Julie Andrews that she's not "American Idol" material, that she has no charisma, and that her voice is better suited to Broadway.

You know, I have no doubt that he would.  I love his mean sense of humor sometimes (the perfect antidote to the unfaltering sweetness of Paula) but his hatred for all things smacking of Broadway or cabaret just sickens me.

I watched tonight's show with my mom.  I thought La Toya and Jasmine did the best job.  That John Stevens kid is just horrible (though I do like the fact that he's something of a 16 year old lounge singer, hehe).

Panni has a good idea there.  I’m sure Echo wouldn’t mind finding a dead rodent for you.  She is rather good at finding all sorts of things in the woods.

All holes are patched.  It's broiling here in LA, so if that helps the problem, then let it keep broiling.  I've had the air on and maybe that was exacerbating the problem.  It's off now - just the window is open.

Watching a terrific noir - Where the Sidewalk Ends, with Dana Andrews and Gene Tierney, directed by Otto (ottO, spelled backwards) Preminger.

Der Brucer has be e&t because of problems with his computer.  Something to do with the Windows interface, I think he said.

In any case, we both appreciate the good wishes.  Kelsey has been doing a little better today, unable to walk but eating some doggy broth (the stuff that comes with his dog food) and drinking water.  He was in really bad shape yesterday.

We've done some checking, found another vet who is a bit more personal than the one we saw before.  Der B. really isn't ready to say goodbye to Kelsey yet, and Kelsey hasn't told us in his way that it's time.

We wait.

BK, you need to get out of town.  It's been raining here, and on up the coast.  Bring an umbrella.

Which reminds me of a question, BK (even though it's early for Ask BK Day): Have you ever worked with Christine Ebersole or Annie Golden?

BK, are you (and the dead rodent expert) sure that the dead rodent is in the walls?  Is it possible that it could be in the air ducts?  Just a thought.

He was up in the attic and he also stuck his nose in the air vent in the room and he can't smell it there - but that was my first guess.  I'd have to have them send out a whole new guy, though, because this guy can't find it and he's supposed to be their expert.

I worked with Ebersole on the Sherman Brothers album.  I liked her very much, but they did her no favors when they mixed it and left off half the orchestra as well as using one full take rather than comping her vocal.

What a job.  Sniffing for dead rodents in attics and behind walls when it's a hundred degrees.

It was an off-night.

However, what do they expect making them all sing Gloria Estefan songs.

That style didn't suit any of them. And most of the songs that were sung were too fast tempo for this type of competition.
