That was many years ago in Toulouse (I did not win!!) on my way first time visit to Spain (Pain before Spain!!

Which brings to mind the classic Monty Python episode where the repeated phrase "No time to lose" magically transmogrifies into an inspired piece by Terry Gilliam of a certain diminutive French painter transported to the Old West and held aloft by his pistol holsters, entitled "No Time Toulouse."

Ben (The Love Theme From Ben)
Ben, the two of us need look no more
We both found what we were looking for
With a friend to call my own
I'll never be alone
And you, my friend, will see
You've got a friend in me
(you've got a friend in me)

Ben, you're always running here and there
You feel you're not wanted anywhere
If you ever look behind
And don't like what you find
There's one thing you should know
You've got a place to go
(you've got a place to go)

I used to say "I" and "me"
Now it's "us", now it's "we"
I used to say "I" and "me"
Now it's "us", now it's "we"
Ben, most people would turn you away
I don't listen to a word they say
They don't see you as I do
I wish they would try to
I'm sure they'd think again
If they had a friend like Ben
(a friend) Like Ben
(like Ben) Like Ben

lyrics by Don Black

The song was nominated for an Oscar but lost to the Morning After from "The Poseidon Adventue" (Which was really credited as The Song From The Poseidon Adventure in the end titles)

Jane - RE your art question:  We get these kinds of queries all the time in the public library.  There are some good printed reference sources such as Benezit's (in French) and Davenport's that can get you started, verifying birth and death dates, correct name spellings, etc.  We then often refer people to the reference library at the Dayton Art Institute.  The librarian there told us a couple of years ago that they are very happy to help people find out more about art work they own.  Isn't there a major art museum in Portland?  'Bet they have a good art reference library.

BTW, what book are you reading for your group?

DRANN - I think you found it.....certainly fits the description!

DR CP (and DR PANNI) thanks for the information about writers and rights re:viewing.

Suddenly we have the Disney Channel, so I will be watching for DR PANNI's latest broadcast work!  TARZAN 24/7?  That's a great title!

OMG Hildy is putting floor tiles on the ceiling.

Guffaw, chortle, choke.   ;D

Well, Portland wants to believe it has a major art museum.  Unfortunately it is not very impressive, IMHO.  (Though we did make national news a few years ago when Chihuly had a showing there and some old lady tripped and broke one of his beautiful pieces).

I didn't read that Stephenson's bio--is she old enough to have been painting in 1969?

It is only with the heart that one can see clearly.

That is on the page Ann has found!
Sounds to me like something from The Little Prince, right?

Just read it--I'm not sure.  It looks like if it's the same one, Jane's painting would have to be one of her very first.  She was still in school, travelling.  Plus, she's into Waldorf Schools.  ;)  I barely survived being a Eurythmy accompanist at the Portland Waldorf School, LOL.

I sat down at six to watch Attack of the Mushroom People.  Within one minute I was asleep and I just was awakened by the horrifying Mushroom People.

Has Ann caught up?  Did she get me any chocolate?  Or a mushroom?

Do any of you have any idea how horrifying it is to be awakened by Mushroom People?  I may have to Limbo to recover.

I’m back.

Ann thank you.  I did find her and was going to send her an email asking if she knows who my Stephenson is.  Keith talked me out of it.  Her self portrait is the only art work there that suggests they are the same artist.

Interesting bio, but I don’t think she is my artist.

Ginny I live 4 to 5 hours from Portland by car.  It would really help if I knew the artists name.  Do these books have pictures of the art work?  I really thought I could google and find the information.  How many artist by the name of Stephenson, maybe Stephens but Keith says no, did oil paintings of women on acrylic or something like that in the late 1970, early 70’s?

Oh, I’m reading DAUGHTER OF TIME by Josephine Tey
