DRMattH, did you ever order any Renaissance music?  If so, what did you get?

No, I didn't. I got sidetracked on the "buying a new camera" track and never got around to ordering any. But I'm going to. It's on my "To Do" list.

No, it won't spoil anything to listen to the CD.  In fact, it's more fun 'cause you'll know the tunes when you get to them in the book.  Glad it arrived safely.

The handyman and partner are on the roof, so presumably problem one is being dealt with.  I'm more interested to see how they deal with problem two, the water that's coming UP from the floor to the rug.

Well, in my Long Beach house, the very first sign I had of a leaky roof was damp carpet (which was covering even damper floor boards). The rain soaked through the rafters and the path of least resistence took it down the wall studs and along the floor joists were it soaked in and dripped to the ground. The dry floor boards and the overlying carpet acted like a wick to suck some of the water back up.

Isn't that special!

Maybe that's what happened here - maybe it's not from under the house.  You'd think I'd see some evidence of it in the walls.

I have no idea what the boys are doing up there, but the leak is still here.  They've got the hose up there with them and they keep hosing which seems strange to me since it's so wet up there already.  I know they're cleaning out the rain gutters which is fine, but I have no idea if they're actually patching or covering the problem spots.  And, of course, they speak no English whatsoever.

Good health vibes to both DR Ann and DR Elmore.

Rain-stopping vibes to all you southern Californians.  It's been gloomy here, too, and the Ohio River is flooding all over the place.  Will post a picture if I can.

I just got an invite to a "gala" screening of THE TEMPTRESS with a brand new score composed by the winner of the Turner Classic Films Young Film Composers Competition. (The head of the jury was Elmer Bernstein.)
Should be fun!

Are DR who are planning to see Penny's show in NYC planning to see the first night (Wednesday) which I guess is a preview or going to the official opening night later in the week?

Inquiring minds want to know.

That's a vital question. I for one would like to go to the official opening. If that's the consensus, I'd like the date, so I can see about a plane ticket working around said date. I would probably fly in the day before and leave the day after - so the exact date is important.

DRMichael Shayne, as the proposer of this Eastern trek, I vote for the official opening night!  What night is that?  March 17?  We can drink green beer and be Irish.  Oh, I am already!

"Hooka Tooka" is a very old expression, and I'm sure Chubby simply adapted it for his twist album

It was born on the streets, in the neighborhoods, of New York City.

Some guy, most likely named Vito, walked up to a cop and, gesticulating wildly toward a woman walking down the street, exclaimed: "That hooka tooka my wallet!"

Yeah....that's how it was born.

Very nice new avatar, DRMATTH!

Good health vibes to DRELMORE & to DR ANN.

I am very excited about CANDIDE on PBS Wednesday evening.  I am assuming this is a full production.  I think it has been mentioned here at HHW before.  Any more details?

And in just a few minutes - the show HOW DID THEY DO THAT? that may or may NOT include MBARNUM'S nephew!
