It is raining here in Rehoboth Beach, DE. Today we will again be ladsitting in Maryland all day. I shall be ladsitting the grandlads in the rain. It almost sounds like a Jimmy Webb lyric.

My favorite songs from the 60s would be from Broadway musicals and movies, and most have already been named from movies: "Moon River" and other Mancini greats.

I did have friends who listened to soul and folk and pop so I guess I could include "My Guy," "If I Had a Hammer," "Bridge Over Troubled Water," and all the Petula Clark hits since I liked them, too. I also liked "You Can't Hurry Love" by the Supremes.

Since BK said to wait until tomorrow, I'll hold off on my Media Check until then.

We had a horrendous storm come through here after midnight. I was reading in the bed, and I was truly afraid a tree was going to come crashing through the roof. There had been tornados to the west of us earlier in the evening, but the weather showed they were missing us and moving northeast. I guess another cell of activity hit us later.

The King Cousins CD? Wow! I have an LP from The King Family TV Show that I love - I think it was on ABC for half a season! In fact I think friend of DRCP - Mr Harlan Ellison reviewed said program by saying: "The King Family is the Harold Robbins of television, lower than that, I cannot go...." He also said some funny personal things about the sisters' hairstyles and their relationships with their husbands. But I want that CD. DRKERRY is right, Tina Cole was on MY THREE SONS - her I didn't mind, but when Beverly Garland and Dodie (Leif Garrett's real life sister) joined the cast....ugh!

So many of my 60's favorites have already been chosen including Moon River - but I will try to mention some lesser lights:

Thank you, DR RLP, for the WILL & GRACE summary. I really don't know who they've got writing the show now, but they took a potentially rewarding relationship between Will and Vince and turned it to crap, and for no purpose other than to make him as single as Grace once again. The dissolution of their relationship was handled about as badly as anything I've seen in TV writing since DYNASTY where folks broke up and made up faster than a speeding bullet.

Remember the cleanse-away-my-tensions-and-black-thoughts (and schmutz) shower I was going to take on two different occasions yesterday? -- Well, I didn't. (To reassure those Panni fans who are now going "Yechhh!" - I DID take a morning shower at about 5 AM, but needed a second one after my heavy writing and dog chasing - refer to yesterday's "Adventrues of Panni".) But, as I stated earlier in this novella, I did not get around to that shower.
Get out your notebooks, because NOW, I am going to shower. Really and truly.

REALLY, REALLY STRANGE DOIN'S DEPARTMENT: I posted yesterday about somehow being consigned to the "guest" department here, even though I had never logged off. Well, this morning I logged on and something really weird was going on. Certain words in BK's notes had a yellow underline on them, and when I passed the cursor over them, they became hyperlinks. For instance: "mercurial" had a link to the online Webster's dictionary; "hotel" had a link to Orbitz; and, most hilarious, "lonely" (twice), as well as "lonely hearted" had links to online dating sites. The strangeness continued right here in the posts where certain words had links. I began to notice that on my task bar I was getting a "Top Text Link" prompt, so I went into my programs and saw I had something called eZula for some reason. I am assuming this happened yesterday when I was sampling various sound recorders, but I didn't download this particular program. It's gone now, hopefully. Isn't that too too?

And I say this only because I'm a lesbian, but I believe Come Saturday Morning is actually a 70s song, the last great A&M single by The Sandpipers.

Speaking of which Fred Karlin's Oscar-mate for "For All We Know," Bread's Jimmy Griffin, died yesterday.

DR Elmore,

Many of mine match yours, too. I'm glad you highlighted ON A CLEAR DAY - I was listening to it earlier, along with another Barbara Harris favorite, THE APPLE TREE. From those shows, my favorites are "Hurry It's Lovely Up Here," and "What Makes Me Love Him." For Harnick and Bock, I'd also include all of SHE LOVES ME, plus TENDERLOIN'S "My Gentle Young Johnny."

I'd also have include the title songs from HELLO DOLLY and DO I HEAR A WALTZ.

"If I Gave You," from HIGH SPIRITS, is a great song. I thought it was an instant classic when I heard it for the first time. Another song that struck me that way was "Three Ships," from A TIME FOR SINGING.

For Michel Legrand, I'd place LES PARAPLUIES DE CHERBOURG near the very top of my list. I like "Windmills of Your Mind" - but just the music. I'm not a big fan of the Bergmans.

Other choices include the Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby" and Pete Seeger's "Blowin' in the Wind."

I can go on, but these were the first to pop into my head.

I believe that you may have fallen victim to a piece of adware/spyware, which may have slipped in during a different download. I'm not immediately familiar with spyware removal programs, but there are a bunch of them out; perhaps one of our other DRs could recommend one.

Yes, this was my thought, too, so I just ran AOL's Spyware detector. Are you ready for this. ELEVEN (count 'em) programs were there. Deleted them all. Ran another scan. TWO more!! About to run my third scan. Unbelievable, and all from two sound recorder downloads. Is this because I'm a lesbian?

If I may sneak in a question for BK. I was just over at Amazon, looking at Liz Callaway's ANYWHERE I WANDER CD. Do you know why the cover has changed?

They redid several covers - probably to make them seem like "new" releases to some folks. The original Liz does Loesser cover was not very good anyway - however, I think the photo on the new cover is not-very-good. And yes, credits were removed from the back of the album - that, too, happened on several releases. Unless I wasn't the producer - if tthe producer was the fellow who "took over" for me, then his name was tthere.

JMK, as you are on AOL you can now download anti-virus software for free...it will also catch several spyware/adwares.

By the way, which Percy Faith Cd did you mention the other day that had singing on it...it sounded like one that I would enjoy.

I recently picked up (marked down 75% at Borders) 101 Strings 30th Anniversary CD...it is magnificent!!
