We stopped watching the show a while ago because we thought it had reached a low point. It's unfortunate to hear that people think it's even worse now than it was last season. The sad part is, when you see episodes from the early seasons, especially the first and second season, you realize how much fun it was. Well written, well acted, funny...Everything it's not now. Karen was a real person in the first few seasons. Will may not have had a date or a boyfriend, but at least you cared about him. Jack may have made dumb comments but you didn't wonder how any human being could be so unrelentingly stupid and still get up in the morning and dress himself and get out of his apartment. I could go on but I won't. Rant over.

I watched it last night for only the second time this season and I couldn't believe how bad it was. The writing was terrible. It's pretty bad when you have Lily Tomlim and Buck Henry and you can't produce one decent laugh.

Re: "Will and Grace" -- the whole Grace and Leo sham marriage arc sucked. I love Harry Connick Jr., and his Leo was a pretty good egg...but they screwed the marriage up from the gitgo by having him dart off to do "Doctors Without Borders" right after the honeymoon.

Bring him back as a beau for Will. Will needs to dump that skank-ass Grace....she's selfish, self-loathing and incapable of nurturing their friendship. Too NEEDY!

The other night I caught an old Will and Grace - and it was a shock to understand what Karen was saying.

I was afraid that Without a Trace was beginning to slip, but last night's episode was as well acted and well written as any I've seen.

I did not go to work today. I packed a little overnight case for my 11 year old and sent her off with the church youth group to attend a convention in Baltimore

RLP - what a great quote - basis for the title of a wonderful John O'Hara book made into a "racy" movie with Bradford Dillman and Suzanne Pleshette! I loved that movie when I saw it....I even think Brett Somers and George Furth were in it!

Debra Messing reminds me of no less a personage that Miss Lucie Arnaz in HERE'S LUCY - same acting style, same facial expressions....sad. I hate to watch her pull down the corners of her mouth when she thinks she has said something hilarious....ugh. But enough of the tired old show.

Absolutely. It's not a song, but it IS a 60s reference...when I saw the movie, read the book and memorized the quote from Pope's poem.

I finally remembered the question I wanted to ask on Wednesday. I'm going to ask it now because I know I'll forget it again before next Wednesday.

When I was in first grade, somebody's mom made my class some edible play-dough. I loved it, but I haven't had any since because I don't know how to make it. Do any of you lovely Dear Readers have a recipe for edible play-dough?

Hmm... If I'm remembering correctly (that IIRC in internet lingo), salt-dough was basically made up of one part flour, one part salt, and enough water to make it play-do-like. Oh, and food coloring.

I remember making some sort of diorama in fourth grade, and after baking some of the pieces, I had some left over, and decided like nine-year olds are wont to to taste some of the extra pieces. It was like an extra(!) salty, thick cracker.

Here's one I found doing a google search:

2 c Flour
4 c Oatmeal
1 c Water
1 c White corn syrup
1 c Peanut butter
1 1/2 c Nonfat dry milk
1 1/4 c Confectioner's sugar

Mix flour and oatmeal in blender and grind for about 30 seconds.
Add 1 cup water and knead.
Add corn syrup, peanut butter, nonfat milk, and confectioners sugar.
Combine and knead well.
Add more flour or powdered milk if dough is still sticky.
Put out bowls of chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, sunflower seeds,
white chocolate chips, red hots or peanuts to decorate creations.
Variations: Mix 16 oz peanut butter with 6 tablespoons honey. Add dry milk
or flour until not sticky. Chocolate chips may be added.

I remember making play-dough out of boiling cornstarch in milk. You could eat it but I don't think you would want to.

Peanut Butter/Graham Cracker Play Dough

Equal amounts of Peanut Butter and Marshmallow Cream
Graham Crackers

First, have the children wash their hands before beginning so they can safely lick their fingers during this project.

Allow children to crumble up Graham Crackers into crumbs, then set these aside. Let them have just a little touch of the Marshmallow Cream and a little touch of peanut butter to feel the different textures and to lick off their fingers.

Mix the peanut butter and Marshmallow Cream together and have the children notice the change in texture. Cover surface area with wax paper or use a breadboard, let children make into shapes. Roll shapes in Graham Cracker crumbs, then eat!

hmmm... I never had Graham Cracker-Peanut Butter Play-Dough when I was in grade school. Now I feel cheated!!!!

-And the list of ingredients sounds so much more edible and tasty than Salt Dough.
