I love “No On Is Alone” sung by just about anyone, but Laurie Beechman’s version is one of my favorites.  I also love the duet with her sister Claudia, “If We Only Have Love.”

“Move On” from SUNDAY…  I got to perform this duet in a revue a few years ago and it was one of the highlights of my performing life.

“Not While I'm Around” is a wonderful song.

“A Place Called Home” from the Menken/Ahrens A CHRISTMAS CAROL

I love the duet arrangement between the Harlem Boy Choir and Betty Buckley on “Sondheim:  A Celebration at Carnegie Hall” of “Our Time” and “Children Will Listen.”

OK, for you ANGEL fans, what does the actor who plays Loren look like without the ghoulish make-up? Do any of you have pics of him in real life? Looks like an actor I might have seen in lots of other things.

[move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%]Good morning/afternoon DRs![/move]

I have to apologize for my most unseemly E&Tness of last evening.  I got home from American Lit class all stoked to log on to HHW and post my tired heart out, but guess what surprise I was greeted with?  My sister's room in the basement is having the carpet replaced, so the PC was disconnected and my mom refused to let me hook it back up!  You can imagine how happy I was about that  >:(, and I was stuck on the antique Mac upstairs which takes about 10 minutes per page to load.  I just finally called it a night and went upstairs to commit myself to the delightful task of homework.

So I'm typing this at school now...the PC should be hooked up by tonight!

You all have incredible taste, and most of my favorite inspirational songs have already been mentioned.  I'll just list mine at the risk of being redundant.

Move On
Everybody Says Don't
Being Alive
Children Will Listen
It's Today
You'll Never Walk Alone
Somewhere
Some People
Don't Rain On My Parade

I hope you guys won't mind if I share a story that pertains to Laurie Beechman.  When I saw Bounce a few days ago, I had the pleasure of meeting my friend Kate's friend (I don't want to write her name, because I don't know if she would want me to), who I really got along with well.  At our sleepover, we really got to talking about our lives and shows and performers that moved us, and she told me the most wonderfully moving story about Laurie Beechman.

My new friend is from Philadelphia and often goes to the Walnut Street Theatre, where Laurie performed and also her sister Claudia.  I forget what show it was, but she saw Laurie in a show there and just idolized her for then on.  She wrote Laurie a long, gushing letter and wasn't even that sure she'd hear back.  However, a few days later, she listened to the messages on her answering machine and lo and behold, Laurie had left her a long and grateful phone message.  It's so sad...this all happened at the height of Laurie's illness, and she passed before she and my friend could ever really talk.  But my new friend has become close with Laurie's mother, and also to a lesser extent with Claudia, who she recommends as a wonderful singer of French songs.  Today's topic just made me think of this, and although it's so sad, it really gave me an idea of how exceptional a human being Laurie Beechman was.

On a lighter note...

Andrea--Love your pic, blondie!  ;)

Inspirtational songs:  You'll Never Walk Alone, Climb Ev'ry Mountain. We Can Be Kind (David Friedman), Not While I'm Around, Being Alive, Move On, and not a DAMN thing by Andrew Lloyd Webber, can you believe it?  Of course you can!  Going to dig the "Bear" costume out of the garage.  I'll be sure and post a picture tomorrow, although it may look a lot like the existing picture to your left.  :D

Listened to Lucy as Mame this morning. It's actually not bad considering how bad I think the picture is (didn't anyone ever teach you not to end your sentence with is, young man?)

Bea Arthur does her usual great job and everyone else, including Robert Preston, is fine. Still don't think I could sit through the movie again, unless it was with like-minded friends and we watched it in a Mommie Dearest frame of mind.

This is 92. Only 9 more. What ever can I talk about in 9 more posts. Oh, I'll think of something.

I don't know if any of you are into cruises as much as I am (no, Tom from Oz, not cruising) but Radisson Seven Seas has just announced that one of their Spring '04, SPOTLIGHT CRUISES, is a ten-day Spotlight on Broadway Cruise.  Among the guests on board for the cruise will be Mary Rodgers (although, Radisson insists on spelling it Mary Rogers of the Rogers and Hammerstein Library).

It sound like it would be wonderful, but be forewarned, Radisson Seven Seas is one of the more expensive of the current cruise lines.

Did anyone else watch the Walt Disney Concert Hall Inaugural last night on PBS?  It was wonderful!

Just for clarification.  Re: posting pictures in a separate thread. It was NOT me who suggested that.

This is what I wrote yesterday:

I have a question.  Now that we are figuring out how to post pictures, we are picture posting trigger happy.  But the problem is that it takes much longer to load the pages here.  Is is possible that we try to control ourselves a bit. Like only a couple pictures each a day. It took me like 5 minutes to load page 1 today

Oh and btw, Der Brucer yes the pictures you posted today were much smaller and loaded much faster.  And thanks so much for your email.

I'll try posting as much as I can, but so far I've had two computers that don't work (the last was a five year old iBook that was really incredibly annoying).  I'm about to get incredibly annoying if they don't set me up with some things that work.  I sort of just got a little snippy, and it's only going to get worse as the day goes by.  I'm so easy - an office with a computer that works so that I can work, a parking pass and a door pass - none of which I have at the moment.  The office manager is very busy because three or four new people are starting tomorrow, but I started yesterday, and he's trying to get them set up before he deals with my problems and I'm not having it.  What do you think of THAT?

Jennifer:  Highlight the word, press the A with the up-and-down arrow...and you will see code appear on either side of the word(s) you'd highlighted.  You will also see a "2"  which is the "current" size of the type.  Change the 2 to a 3 or a 4 or a 5 and watch the word(s) GROW!

What a fabulous picture of Idina!! The lighting for that particular scene is absolutely amazing, and she just blows the song out of the water. I DO hope the reviews are favorable...I just don't see how they could be bad. I'm about to run to lunch now, but I wanted to stop by and say hello...so....HELLO!
