STRANGE ADVENTURES
« on: August 24, 2005, 12:14:19 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, you've learned of the strange adventures, the strange adventures have learned of you, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're having some extremely strange adventures of their own.

DR MBarnum mentioned yesterday;
Quote
As for Robert Redford, I prefer his television guest spots on Perry Mason THE CASE OF THE TREACHEROUS TOUPEE and on the episode of TWILIGHT ZONE “NOTHING IN THE DARK”. I understand he is very good in the film WAR HUNT co-starring Mr. John Saxon, but I have yet to see that film.

I remember an episode of Twilight Zone with Robert Redford, but I don’t recall the title. Is that you mentioned the one in which he performed a messenger from the heaven who took an old woman to the heaven?

It's "Ask BK day" - but doesn't it feel like every day is "Ask BK Day" - kind of like Mother's Day - you should respect your mother every day, and you can ask BK questions every day, can't you?

Here's a question - how does the electronic hat work for picking out the winner of the sparkling prize from among the trivia winners?  Is it a whole ceremony audited by a CPA firm, and should a live feed be considered?

Well, it's early.  Skip is off to California (San Francisco, then Sacramento)  for a few days, and he has an insanely early flight.  So the dogs got an early breakfast, and I get to impress the office that I'll actually have a memo written before 8 on a hot tax topic.

BK, my question:  Heard anything from Gary Owens re: New Guy In Town?

Heard nothin' from no one.

Here's another question that I shall ask myself:

What in tarnation am I doing up at three o'clock in the morning?  Answer: Not feeling well - queasy.

Our Electronic Hat (patented) was invented for me by a computer expert.  I share no information about it.  It is hush-hush and on the QT.

Good morning, all!  The ghost walked through this place earlier.  Around 5:20, I awoke to the sound of objects falling.  Since falling objects - usually books - in my apartment can be lethal, I got up and checked out the room.  I don't seen any debris or items on the floor, so I'm quite perplexed.  About once a month, the ghost puts in an appearance.  Usually, it's the feeling that someone's walked past me or that I'm not alone in the apartment, but I guess he (In the past 24 years here, I've seen the ghost twice; he wears a blue shirt) felt I'm not frightened enough of him or not paying him enough attention.  I need a ghostbuster to kick some butt.

So, I'm now ready to face the day, hear Act One of THE GOLDEN APPLE with DRJose, work a bit on the cruise show, and see what fresh hell turns up.  Yesterday Alex Rybeck called me about some work for Faith Prince, but it might conflict with my trip to see family in Ohio.  Yes, it's booked:  Sept 21-28.

Dear Friend BK, I have no questions yet, but maybe later!

I think DRMBARNUM saw TEAM AMERICA at the actual Movie Thee-Yater and enjoyed it.  I haven't seen it, yet.

Good news about the Mini LP packaging.  AND I still say, MR BK, isn't there a program that will print labels when you do some type of data entry....and a two letter or number code added to the top or bottom left of the label would tell you which CD to put in the envelope:  NG = New Guy in Town, ST = STAGES, ATB = AFTER THE BALL, etc.

My first question for ASK BK day:

What was the title of the opening number that your friend remembered, and what was it's most memorable lyric?

I think a ghost would wear see-no's, which are a ghostly variation on chinos.  Or maybe Berrmuda triangle shorts.

Sorry.  it's early.

What kind of pants does the ghost wear?

I believe the ghost is the man in the apartment below me who hanged himself in 1981 (I swear I didn't drive him to it!).  I've seen the ghost twice, and it's been peripheral both times:  all I remember is the bright blue shirt.  The first time I saw him I was kneeling on the floor sorting dirty laundry when I became aware pf someone in a blue shirt standing above me and when I looked up he was gone; the second time, I was waiting for the elevator, and in my peripheral vision I saw someone in a bright blue shirt walk across the hall and through my door!

If it is the suicide, he was a handsome young man, probably in his late 20s.  His girlfriend hadn't heard from him in several days, so she came to the apartment, opened the door and found him hanging.  The super's wife identified the body for the police.  He was very quiet, and I believe we only spoke once in the first year I lived in the building.

'morning!  Even though I don't go to work until noon today, I was up before 7am, thinking about all the things that need to be done.  So far, I've gotten two packages ready to mail (clothing returns) and caught up with last night's and this morning's posts.

BK's comments about amazon.com in today's notes explain why my New Guy in Town has not yet arrived.  I ordered it on July 24, along with After the Ball and Carly Simon's Moonlight Serenade, both of which I received long ago.  Think I'll just wait out amazon, to see just how long it takes.  If I don't have it by the NY trip, I'll join Danise at Tower Records and purchase it there.

Good Morning!

Well, I hope BK eventually got to sleep despite your queasy stomach.  What did you eat for dinner?  Not Jerry's again? ;)

In any case, I hope you slept well.

Did you sleep well?

-Well, that's an Ask BK Question if I ever saw one!

I have a question for BK - How were your sessions with Helen Reddy?  I've recently revisited "Center Stage" and still enjoy it immensley.  Also, how did it work for the CD single of "Surrender", was that a VS release and what input did you have on that single.  I won't even ask about the single's cover art!  :)

Why don't they do one DVD transfer of movies for all the regions?

When other regions are doing US titles, the studios don't really care what they give them - and then they end up doing better transfers here - happens in almost every single case.
