All of my friends here in Charlotte had to work today. And the schools were in session today as well.

THE OFFICE had one of its funniest ever episodes last Tuesday. While the boss was closing on his new condo, the remaining staff had an office Olympics with made-up lame games and medals made from paper clips and yogurt lids. Hilarious.

I have a headache. :P I hate it when that happens.  I can't complain too much, though.  I work with several people who get migraines all the time.  I know my little bitty headache is nothing like what they have to go through.

EXTRAS had a very off night, I thought, even though again the scene with Gervais and his agent had me laughing.

The TV critic for USA TODAY said in his on-line chat today that tonight's episode of HOW I MET MY MOTHER was supposed to be good. The CBS brass had cued him to be sure to watch tonight since they rated this the best of the four episodes to have aired.

I honestly thought it was the WORST of the four episodes which have aired. I didn't laugh once. In fact, I found it insulting and cruel, and what a jerk they've made out of Neil Patrick Harris' character. Infuriating.

OUT OF PRACTICE had a funny episode despite dealing with fix-up dates, usually one of my least favorite plots for situation comedy. But there was a competition plot between siblings going on as well as the divorced father and mother characters vying over whom the dog liked best which was momentarily amusing. And there were two LORD OF THE RINGS cultists who also added to the fun.

If I hadn't seen his name in the credits of last night's LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT, I wouldn't have recognized Corbin Bernsen. I know no one is ageless, but I was really surprised he was in the show after seeing him.

And I'll have MEDIUM to watch tomorrow since I also watched CSI: MIAMI, very much a downer episode about the horrors of prison life for the weak that left me feeling sad and a bit dispondent about certain characters in the show.

Back from Splash! with DR Jose and my friend, Jared, who is celebrating his 24th birthday tomorrow. He wanted to stay until midnight (!!) to ring in his new year, but he has an audition tomorrow, so he left Jose and myself to our own devices. We laughed, we sang, we gazed longingly at the eye candy and then we sang some more. And I saw Ms. Jennifer Holliday in the DREAMGIRLS clip for the third time in my life. Oh, rapture!! She was captivating to say the least.

DR Jose ran into a friend/former student (?) of his while we were there and was quite excited about it. I also ran into a friend of mine from college who I just adore. Such a nice person. It was great to see him.

Turns out Jose's friend works at the Met. He's now in charge of getting the two of us together for dinner. :)

Good Evening!

Back from Splash.  Jason and I met our buddy Jared there - he has a birthday coming up this week, and this was sort of his party.  A fun time was had by all.

-At the front tables, there were a group of "bois" who seemed to know everything that was being played tonight - the words, the melodies, the choreography.  They provided an extra show for free!

We headed out shortly after the Dreamgirls sequence - it starts out with the opening of the Tony's from two years ago where Hugh Jackman leads everyone in "One Night Only", then goes onto the commercial for Dreamgirls, and then, finally, the Act 1 Finale from the Tony telecast.  DI-VA!

And as DR Jason just alluded to, I did indeed run into a former student/singer/friend from my days at Catholic University.  We ran into each other on the stairs - I was heading up as he was heading down.  Well, we both headed back up to the main floor for a proper hug, and a quick catch up session.

It really was soooo good to see him again.  Truly one of the nicest people in the world.  And, the "best" part: let's just say the last time I saw him, Splash would have been the last place I would have run into him.  His fiance probably would not have approved.  ;)  I had heard that he had come out a few years ago, but our paths never crossed until tonight.  I gave him my card, and I hope to hear from him in a few days.  And, I do hope that I can take him and Jason out to dinner.   And since Joe just started working at The Met too... Hmm..

MBarnum, Jose, and Jane through the same pastry window.

...I believe we were sampling the Chocolate Peanut Butter tart that DR MBarnum had bought inside said pastry shop.  Yum!

DR TCB - Was this past weekend your closing weekend?  Or is there one or two more to go?

Congrats on your continuing success.

Sounds like a fun night at SPLASH!

It's splashing here, too. More rain, more rain. Argh!

That makes it five days in a row with rain. Supposed to see the sun on Wednesday but not on Tuesday during the daylight hours.

Hi, all HHW pals! Another beauteous sunset right out THERE... elmore, so sorry - but, sheesh, 93! Still, a sad loss, and always too soon, too soon...

Gals, the makeover pics are wonderful!

Jose, I just knew NY was your spiritual home, and that sooner or later, but probably very much sooner, you'd be living there. I'm so glad you're happy...

Here today, gone to Maui...

I found Early Music Maui today, and I'll be sitting in on Sunday. Two years running, they've been performing the Bach Coffee Cantata at Edinburgh Fringe and around the country. Lots of cool music, all from before 1750 (well, a few newer pieces, actually, but still before 1800). I'll play soprano and alto recorders, and probably sing some stuff, too. Can't wait! Love that early music!!!
