Elan, October 6th is a very good birthday!   ;D

If your son follows my family tradition, he will be left-handed.  I, an Uncle and an Aunt were all born on October 6 and we're all left-handed!

Vixmom - Hmm...That may explain why I don't enjoy attending other people's birthday parties as much as I enjoy attending birthday parties for me.   That, and the fact that I never get any presents at other people's birthday parties.  (Although at birthday parties for my father I can usually rely on him giving whatever I buy for him right back to me, so I make sure I get him something that Skip or I would like in case he gives it back.)  :)

Just kidding, of course - I see your point.

Please don't interpret this as snide or bitchy, because it truly is not intended to be, but do you realize that your nightly TV recaps basically serve as just such episode previews for those of us on the west coast?

They may very well be true, but they don't usually contain any information that's not available in TV GUIDE or other TV lsitings. When I give pertinent plot points, I have started inserting spoiler in the text of the messages.

And, of course, just as I have the option to turn off the TV before previews are shown, you have the option to skip my posts without reading them.

And of course, no one enjoys a good party like my Mom.  A real party girl, especially when they get to Florida, it seems.

I knew that Fox had canceled KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL, but now they are saying they will show no more episodes that have already been filmed. Reruns of ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT will air in that time period.

Well, that will save my DVR from recording a half hour of program for the rest of the season.

Our office's holiday party will be on Friday Dec. 16th in a really good kosher restaurant.

Although I'm already very deep into gift-ordering, the timing of Hannukah this year makes that feel too early.

I'm sure they will, but it won't be a full season of episodes. What are they doing this season, 13?

I thought the same thing, DR JRand, but according to the news release, reruns of other shows get a larger audience than new episodes of KC. Thus, for business reasons, it makes sense to play what will draw the most people.

And speaking of ratings, ALIAS did really badly on Wednesday night at 10, too. I'm sure ABC will be glad to get that last episode shown next Wednesday night and put something else on in the time slot.

And as a side benefit, might that not make it more likely that KC fans will buy the inevitable DVD if there are episodes that have never been shown on TV?

It sure worked for FIREFLY. That box flew off the shelves in part for the three unseen episodes in the set.

It, too, was a Fox series unjustly canceled before it could catch on.

DR FJL - Thanks for the info on Sag Harbor/Red...  Isn't the Coffee Pot back in business?  I know they closed down for a few weeks for some remodeling and updating, and the last time I walked by that corner, the place seemed open for business.  -But maybe the ownership has changed. ???

Jose - What I heard is that the coffee house was split off a long time ago as part of a divorce.  I think it may have been sold since then, though.

DRJose, are you still coming in on Monday?  I have to be at the Men's Chorus rehearsal at 6:30 at Riverside Church.  Do you want to come along and find another date?

We shall keep the home fries burning until Pogue's returning.  I know the news, but I'm keeping mum on the subject, oh, yes, I'm keeping mum on the subject. Mum would like to get off the subject, frankly, but I'm afraid I'm keeping mum ON the subject.

I skip all TV-related posts, or just glance at them.

Edie Falco has dropped out of The Threepenny Opera (the new Wallace Shawn translation) because of scheduling conflicts with The Sopranos.  Now, correct me if I'm wrong, which I'm not, hasn't The Sopranos been off the air now for two solid years.  Do these cocky producers and networks really think anyone is going to care when they finally bring the show back?  TWO YEARS.  Sorry, but I will not be watching it because they have basically spit in the face of their loyal viewers.

Question for anyone of Jewish background:  I have long been told, by my Jewish friends, that they are bemused by the commercialization...and elevation...of Hanukkah alongside Christmas.  They have told me that Hanukkah was always a minor holiday on the Jewish calendar and that it has been inflated into something that it was never meant to be.

Also, there has been talk (oh, yes! Talk!) that Christians should acquire some proportion on their own sense of Christmas when they jump on the everything-is-equal bandwagon this time of year.

But...I say these things not to offend, but to acquiree ask for thoughts from others in this forum....i.e. WHAT DO YOU THINK?

It's now a question.

I aim to please the qubiblers/pedants  everyone.

DR Vixmom that is an interesting story about Christmas cards.  Although I think there are many Jewish people who don't send Christmas/holiday cards.  Not really just because they don't celebrate Christmas.  But probably they were just not brought up that way.

I think it is fine though to send Christmas cards even if you are Jewish, since the people who get them celebrate that holiday.

DR MattH, I'll bet ALIAS would do better if LOST had a new episode. Not sure if that will happen next week.

And DR Jed, re: DR MattH's comments.  I think they are way more than previews, as he is discussing the entire show.  I always skip the ones I plan on watching /taping, and read them after I've seen the show.

Pedants?  Quibblers?  We have no pedants or quibblers - we're all just folks, looking for love in all the wrong places, like a gazelle after a sex change operation.
